Ahh, the beauty of a 39 degree track day. She ran cool all day.

I'm signed up for Laguna on March 1st and April 13th. Are you coming out?

Nice pics Charlie. You're making me miss the old girl!

Ever figure out your power problem on the way home?

Those are the ones. After your inspirational run at Laguna in the rain, I was anxious to get a little wet, and give it a go. It was slippery everywhere, but real easy to catch. The one session in the rain was the only time out that no one could pass me.

Even with the new Zimmermans and Pagids I'm still feeling like I'm up on top of the track and wondering which wheel's gonna lock up first.

I'm pretty sure it's a gas issue. I have a new filter sitting here ready to go on. I should get to it tomorrow.

Charley.....
What tires are you running.....do all 4 match with fairly even wear?

I never had a lockup problem in sharky with stock S4 brakes...there was a couple spots where I wished it had more brakes though.... typically coming into 14....okay stop...stop...STOP....STOOPPP.... :>)

The widow and M3 have far better brakes...but the M3 does feel more on top of the track vs the widow which feels much more stable, which I think is from its lower height and center of gravity (its about 6 inches lower than the M3)

we had that kind of rain day race with SCCA. It wasnt as wet as that picture of you was showing, so turn 1 wasnt all that nerveracking. (Like laguna turn 5 which was spookey becasue of all the hydroplaning on slicks when it was real wet). I think the trick was to just brake real straight until a slow turn in.

I bet those tires worked well and made it a heck of a lot safer. one of these days Ill try some rains. i was really excited to try your tires, and we just ran out of time to do the change! (thanks again for all that effort to help me out by the way. I still owe you !!)

I would have liked to have gone for a ride in your 928 on that day. Who was the lucky passenger?

Sharky has ABS. Charlie's Euro does not. On a straight stop on a level surface, you shouldn't have one wheel locking up over another if the bias is correct and everything's working on a non ABS car. However, if one of the wheels is light because of changing road conditions (going over a bump or hill, making a turn, etc) you could easily get a wheel to lock up.

I had my Grandson with me. It was his first time on a track and he informed me he wants to get a job at a race track and just live there.

I was raised in snow country on drum brakes, so threshold braking is kind of second nature for me. ABS tends to be a distraction. Because of the higher speeds and looming turns I was careful not to lock it up on the track, but while bedding in the brakes on the street I was getting lock up on different wheels, I think left front and right rear. This was on a flat straight roadway, other than maybe a slight crown.

I did notice, when I set tire pressures for the track, that the rear tires were about 11 pounds less than the fronts, although I don't think that was much of a contributing factor. The pedal is not as high and hard as I'd like, never has been, so I'm going to do some more bleeding before I hit Laguna on the 1st.

The tires are fairly new Sumitomo's, although the rear's didn't have much scuffing before Thunderhill.
