No! I throw away way too many pieces that someone has attacked with scotchbrite. It does remove aluminum.

Do not get close to a flat surface, with one of these pads!

My block had some similar machining. All tolerances in spec.

BTW:

Those are the uber rare "forged" rods that Porsche came up with, only for the GT engines. I've never been able to even find them in PET. I originally only saw them in the GT engines....however, I did find one set in a car that had an automatic. They are an excellent connecting rod to use in a 5.0 liter high performance project. They are not "thin", like the GTS rods.

Perhaps Rob can take a picture of one of them, when it is out.

Good idea. I've heard Gortex dental floss works very well. It might not stand up to engine work, but maybe worth a try.

Rob:

You better let me come over and get that unusable, useless piece of crap out of your garage, before your wife sees it. Of course, I won't be able to give you what you exactly what you paid for it, since it is now apart, but we should be able to get close.

Remember our "Rennlist" oath...."Happy wife, happy life." This should allow you enough time to get the grease off of the carpet, before she returns.

Are these the rods you're talking about?

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...0-gt-rods.html

We found the rods on the far right of the pictures in the bottoms ends of a 90 GT and a 91 GT.

Ron-

I couldn't pass up a GT motor for 50% off. Thing is, Jen gets home tomorrow and it needs to be hidden by then, which is easier if it's in pieces. Y'know, hide the body and all.....

Ahhh, the life of a kept man. You can keep it here and tell her you're taking up mountain biking. Simply tell her your off for a ride and come here to work on it.

See the picture directly above your post. The far right rod is the forged GT rod.
