Mark ,you have to keep in mind that the pad wants to be centered over the pistons radially, or you get uneven wear. If you hang more pad out the bottom without a commensurate increase at the top, its not being clamped on-center, and the pad will wear more at the top and become tapered. Not good.

And that is exactly the reason why the S4 calipers and pads could be better.

The pistons on the GTS caliper are in the same place as the S4, so no problem there.

Anyway, Ill be keeping the S4 sized pads on the larger rotor diameter. It makes a lot of sence.

Here are the spacers I had made up.

Let me know if anyone is interested in the upgrade to GTS brake potential, without much of the cost.

Ill be confirming the performance at Thunderhill raceway this weekend during our SCCA test day on Sunday

what was the final height of the spacer? Have spares?

I have a couple of extra spares.
The hight turned out absolutely perfect! those lug nut cut off mock ups helped a lot with the final dimension. There was a pretty wide range of sizes I was toying with. By the time i had the parts made, I had it nailed down pretty well.

wasnt able to hit the track, due to some home project issues.
However, I did chase a couple of rice rocket motorcycles down the mountain and thought I got some video. (I was testing the new tire setup up front with the fender cam ) These guys didnt know what hit them! The best part was when they hit the straights and did their little wheelies out of the exits of turns, i was all over them til the next turn where i would then start to yawn. The brakes are very strong. (as well as the big tires up front)
Very hard to tell the differnce, hoever, as i mentioned there is no fade , and the modulation is better, but its very hard to tell any difference on the street.
I expect the main differnce to be in braking force available when the rotors are glowing at 135mph!

The spacers are not that available, however, I can make a few sets or kits up and sell them if anyone is interested. I suppose if we got 10 folks together to commit to a GTS brake upgrade kit, without the calipers, providing the same braking ability as the GTS system, I could put something together. I would think that it would be $700 a kit for everything.
965 porsche rotors (GTS diameter and size but with drilled holes)
GTS caliper bolts
spacers that move the calipers out as shown in the pics
pagid orange pads
Instructions on how to take a little material off the edges of the calipers with a dremel.

Otherwise, I probably could get the spacers made for $50 if we get a commit of 10 people.

Mark ,its important to point out that these are NOT drilled ,but CAST holes. Big difference in durability.

Good point. yes, very nice factory rotors with CAST holes. Even the Zimmerman are cast holes as well. I get so used to calling them " cross-drilled rotors"

Ive been limited to street racing up the mountain roads. Its pretty nerve racking not being able to push the car, so i just do a lot of high speed late brake exercises. It feels much more capable. cant wait for March for the first race. the big tires up front should help as well.
