Glenn, yes, it was high heat engine paint. Duplicolor Gloss Black, #6313 IIRC.
The only blasting it got was with a wire wheel, and definitely no primer. But I did give him a nice bottle of black nail polish to touch up those inevitable nicks and dings.![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Colin, I think he was thinking that was the way you do it. It's not?

Thanks, Jason!
Well guys....just a little bit of progress to report in the past few days, with the arrival of the season's first snow storm.
Intake is back on the engine with all new knock sensors and hall sensor...the new crank sensor will be dissected from the Euro engine during the swap.
And got new tires (Falken FK-452 235/40/18 fronts, 295/30/18 rears) on the (soon-to-be) S2/S4 today, which was good. Last run on the almost completely blown engine, now it's time to come apart, finally. Unreal, but the stupid thing still flies, even pissing oil out of its breather. WTF...Porsche wasn't kidding around when they built these cars.
But in the end, I guess that was the goal...to get that engine back out of there while it was still salvageable, and not completely, totally and irrevocably wasted.

Nicer weather this week meant Kevin got a few more steps of the process accomplished.
Here's where he was as of the end of the day yesterday....
Timing belt was removed, and front seal installed.
![](http://reutterwerk.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=73&pictureid=638)
![](http://reutterwerk.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=73&pictureid=639)
He started working at noon after the mail arrived with his new 32V'r tool and a tensioner boot to replace the original one which got nicked.
This is after the timing belt is reinstalled and timing is set to tdc.
![](http://reutterwerk.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=73&pictureid=640)
Passenger side cam....before being set with the 32V'r.
![](http://reutterwerk.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=73&pictureid=643)
And after being set to 0 degrees...
![](http://reutterwerk.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=73&pictureid=645)
Driver's side cam...before being set with the 32V'r.
![](http://reutterwerk.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=73&pictureid=644)
And after being set to -2 degrees...
![](http://reutterwerk.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=73&pictureid=646)
After it has been running for a while again, and the belt has a chance to stretch, the timing will be rechecked when hot.
Not too much of a surprise to find the inner thermostat seal is toast....
![](http://reutterwerk.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=73&pictureid=650)
![](http://reutterwerk.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=73&pictureid=651)
The hall sensor wasn't much better....
![](http://reutterwerk.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=73&pictureid=652)
There, all better now...
![](http://reutterwerk.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=73&pictureid=654)
![](http://reutterwerk.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=73&pictureid=655)
The knock sensors were just as sad. Here's one, the other was just as ugly.
![](http://reutterwerk.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=73&pictureid=653)
She's ready to roll!

Tomorrow the S2 starts coming apart!

When people ask "why?" that means they don't have the ***** to do it. Good luck on your project! It'll be a very unique car when finished!

Umm sorry to tell you this but the drivers cam should be set to ZERO and the passengers -2 to get zero on both when hot. Kevin got this backwards.
Looking forward to seeing this get finished.

Tony, it will be ready for the dyno a lot sooner than April. If it isn't, Kevin will probably torch it! ![EEK!](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
Colin
Don't blame Kevin for that. That's all my fault.
The tool didn't come with any printed instructions so I looked them up online for him as he was tied up in the garage. (Hey, don't look at me...I didn't tie him up.
) I relayed the instructions as I read them. 0 on the left side, -2 on the right. (www.liftbars.com) Duh, it's on the left when you look at it, right???
![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
Lol. Lesson learned. Kevin has to do his own
!!
Anyway, as it turned out, last night he saw Porken tell someone else new belts should be set to 0 degrees on BOTH sides, so he had to go back in there either way. But, thanks for pointing out the error of my ways! At least it's a simple fix, as fixes go. Ten minutes to adjust with Porken's freakin' awesome, incredible, fantastic tool!![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Now, if there was only a way to reconvert converted Accel fuel injectors back to o-ring style.![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
How's your project going, Colin?

Right is left and left is right.
Porsche convention is LHD and from the drivers seat perspective..............facing forward of course![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
So when 'under the hood' the drivers side of the engine is 'left'.
Any more pics.............good luck with the project.
ps..........whats the WP project status?
