Default WTB: S4 Air Flaps and Fan Motor

The PO removed the air flaps from my '88S4 (the long ones behind the grille). Does anyone have a set for sale?

Also, one of my (twin) fan motors is starting to drag. I could use one of those too...if it's in good shape.

PM me if you have one of these and what you'd sell for.

Thanks,

H2

Did you check out 928 international? They are having a half-off sale on used parts thru December.

Well kind of (pretty unpopular). Both of mine work which is good on my 20 minute commute. Not so good is I have vacuum leaks preventing the heater valves closing fully or at all so I get hot air sooner. Mus fix the AC on both 28s as well.

HH I forget where you live in the US - somehwer cold in the winter - could be worth doing - Florida or texas forget it.

Why...most everyone removes them.......sure its nice to have it 100% accurate, but why risk it failing and overheating?

OK, experts...

We think only about failure modes, therefore only the worse. How about an owner who lives in the northern wilderness, in a place like, say, Alberta? It gets cold there in the winter, a situation for which those intake air flaps were intended. Causes the motor to come up to temp sooner, gets warmer air in the intake to improve cold-weather driveability, etc.

So why would a Texan like Harvey be looking for a set of flaps? Makes ya go Hmmmmm.

Sorry, Bob. I live in Northern Idaho and Idaho would be LARGER THAN TEXAS if you were to flatten out all the mountains.

Actually, it does get chilly enough here to use the flaps. My drive to work is not too far and it's not heating up quick enough.

With all the anti-flappers out there, you'd think someone would have a set they'd be willing to part with.

If it gets chilly IMHO it's well worth having the flaps especially if the work commute is short. I wouldn't ditch mine and it's supposed to be warm here even in winter. (Global warming seems to mean that the S. hemisphere is actually getting colder)

Harvey,
I still have the flaps I took out of my '90. Too bad I didn't know when you were here last week. Yours if you want them. Do you need the actuating motor too, or just the flaps.
