Default Australian 928 Convertible

My brother stumbled upon a Porsche gathering while in Australia, ha snapped a lot of pictures, including a few of a widebody convertible. Looks nice!

It looks like a Strosek body kit, with a convertible conversion made by Jurinek.
It seems to be nice.

The 928 on the right has a Gemballa body kit.

You are spot on, look at the steering wheel and note in Windshield!

LOVE IT! Always wanted a conv. 928 and that one is left hand drive...you can't drive that down under, it just isn't right! Maybe you should send that one to Texas! LOL!

Wow - very cool.

Is it just me or does every widebody need updated wheels more then any other 928?

I would really like to see more pics of that one! It's the best looking ragtop conversion I've seen so far, but a straight side shot would help a lot. In any case, very nice indeed.

My brother is still in Australia, he just sent me some pictures by mail. I have posted 4 he sent me that show the convertible, I will check if he took some more and post if that is the case. He even spoke to the owner, I will hear if he can share some more information about the car.

I wonder how well the convertible and frame is working, is seems it is well down and hidden behind the seats.

What is the body kit on the silver-blue one beside the convertible?:

The thing that is really interesting here is the treatment of the top of the door and rear deck. Most 928 convertables (including mine, unfortunatly) retain the stock door profile and a little stub of the rear window post that pops up to the height of the rear deck. Looks pretty bad. Especially since the window opening is lower that the top of the front fender anyhow. I'm not quite sure if they have raised the door profile or lowered the rear deck or both, but I sure like the look better. If there are more pictures or a chance to get more info I would be interested to see if the door window openings are level with the front fenders (can't quite tell from the picture). And, if the door opening have been raised, how were seals and squeegees and such handled?

Karl, exactly- hadn't thought of it but it is the door treatment that makes this design work so well. And Ian, perhaps you could get, through your brother, the owner to join the forum and sate our curiosity?

The doorcovers look original, and by comparing the distance between door locks and top of the door between the convertible and the red 928 in the first picture leads me to believe the door top probably is at standard height.

While back there was another similar convertible for sale in UK. It was also originally '85 MY ROW S made by Jurinek and Strosek. These two are best looking convertible 928's around.
