Indeed...makes sense. I'm much better with things mechanical. My inexperience with dye and the outcome of my first attempt didn't help my confidence in using dye. If someone has the chance to post a guide on using dye properly based on their experience, it might help the rest of us.

Oh, and you others. Please stop fussing.

I used the rejuvinator stuff on 2 928s

1. Had old tuff cracked leather, the other has soft newer leather seats.

The crap had no effect on either. I believe its all in your head because people pay a lot of money for this stuff and humans constantly need to self justify there actions, in this case for spending $$$ on snake oil. So they tell themself it works, kinda sort of, alittle bit, maybe....I think it felt softer, I'll tell the wife it is since she said it was a waste of money.

At the end of the day it wont turn stern leather pliable it might be good for jerk off lotion and thats about it. If we did a blind test of this product on a shark owner.

Take any OB shark for 3 days and apply this stuff without the owner knowing, and later brought the shark back and asked if they noticed anything different. They wont notice **** besides the smell of the product.

Save your money for beer and ketchup

I bet that owner wouldn't notice the difference if you had the seats recovered for them. Some people just don't notice things like that, my parents would fall into that category.

I've used Lexol which everyone seems to like and compared it head to head against Leatherique and will say that price has absolutely nothing to do with it. If I didn't think it was a good product why would I and others recommend it and why would we buy more of it? I know I have nothing to gain from it.

Anyways, I think it is important for people to realize that leatherique can't perform miracles. If leather is dry it won't come back to life with leatherique. If it's already cracked it won't seal them. But if you have leather that is still pliable but embedded with dirt you can very successfully bring that leather to very good condition. The linen seats in my GT were very dirty and the the naturally occurring cracks were filled with dirt/oil and whatever else builds up on seats. Leatherique pulled all of that residue off with two applications. Lexol doesn't touch embedded dirt IMHO and I've seen it on another similar mileage younger 928 that was better cared for than my GT. Lexol is absolutely useless for deep cleaning. Now for regular maintenance it is fine but deep cleaning, forget it. MY S4 seats were in very rough shape when I bought the car and the drivers seat had a tear. With exception to the tear those seats improved dramatically with three applications of leatherique. Next step would have been repair of the tear.

Leatherique isn't that expensive either, you just have to know how to buy it and watch for the deals they offer.

hmmm....I did the paint treatment to the bolsters only because of the color having been scuffed off. We've covered the issues with that. The seats were otherwise intact and without cracks, but very dry and felt of their age. I applied Leatherique restorer several times after taking ownership before doing anything else to the seats, and the seats feel remarkably supple. Plenty of sun or applied heat after application is necessary, as the suppliers state.

I somewhat agree with Red UFO on not getting fast results. If leather has
been neglected for a long time it's going to take awhile to see a great improvement.
Applying conditioner one time and expecting a miracle is not going to happen. I applied
conditioner every other day for about 2 weeks and I saw some improvement but not
a lot. It's not like waxing you car and can stand back and admire it right after your done.
I know many people who never ever do anything to their leather. Not sure why. Maybe
they think it is like fine wine and gets better with age. Maybe they like the 'worn in' look or
new 'patina' color it is getting. Even though my leather isn't a lot softer, it does look cleaner
and fresher. The bottom line is try and do something for your leather. Neglecting it is not
in your best interest.

I had good results with leatherique, writeup here. It wasn't a miracle but it was a noticeable improvement. It will take quite a few applications to catch up on 30 years of neglect...

Ya it don't work miracles in 1 application. But hell it don't hurt to use it also to prevent your good seats from going to **** old dry cracked up leather. Several applications seems to be nearly soaking your seats in this stuff over time, but in the end you can't turn old leather into young leather anymore than you can turn 3 times divorced wife with 5 kids into a 18 year old from high school with this leatherique liquid.

I guess I expected that 30 back to 18 year miracle with the goo, but in reality it good to prevent the good seats from going to hell to begin with.

It could be my Euro has German leather thats the good stuff and my other 83 had america cheapier cut leather??? Leatherique couldn't make 1 into another.
