1957 nomad - previously a old hearse from the job digging after school (ran a backhoe)

2006 VW Jetta TDI - current
1989 Chebby Pickup - current
1967 Grumman panel - current

Almost as hard as trying to remember how many surfboards, wind surfers, sailboats, power boats, and women

I went to the tag office today to register the latest 928...
"so you buy and sell Porsche's?"
That's the excuse I use - I just haven't found anyone to sell them too

shoot - my kids just asked why I didn't add the BMW and MB that are in the garage

They are all "past" because they rusted apart within 2 years if they were like mine.

'74 Opel Manta - 1979-80 - first car, really my parents, but it was "mine"
'70 Firebird, Formula 400 Ram Air III - 1980-1982 - my own first car, all options except rear spoiler. Sold to a collector in Texas for tuition money
'70 Opel GT - 1982-88 - did complete rebuild and repaint one summer after work in the evenings. Stored until last month, sold to a neighbor who's wife wanted a project.
'84 Peugeot 505 - 1988-92 - great car except for the oil leaks
'87 BMW 325 - 1992-2002 - This was a "plain" 325, not i, or e, or anything. For some reason BMW broke form on this model and stuck a 2.9 liter in it despite the name. It really "got it". Great car.
'92 BMW 525i - 2002-2007 - what a dog. Inspired me to look for something "fun"
'79 Porsche 928. The king of them all

Bikes:
('75?) Hodaka Wombat
'77 Hodaka Super Rat (got it for getting straight A's. Still in my dad's barn. Anybody want it?)
'72 Honda 125
'84 Honda Ascot
'89 Honda Pacific Coast - current commuter bike

Yup...I wish I would've kept or taken lot's of pics of my last one. I read an article when the first year 300ZX Turbo came out and they put it up against a "special" 240Z; the 240Z blew it away.

Basically I followed suit and this what they did...280Z block with a 71 240Z head with 30K shaved off the head producing 13:1 compression. Used the 5 spd tranny from a 280Z, then added a header, dual weber carbs and motosport 2.5" exhaust all the way back. Let's just say with that kind of compression I learned how to change head gaskets in my sleep. But it sounded like a V8 and would smoke any newer V8 sports car at the time

It's the reason I bought my first (79) 928. I wanted the power without having to work on it all the time (man did I learn my lesson, the 79 kept me in the garage even more)

Good question;

First car set the tone for the rest of my life. I had the choice, more or less, between a 1976 Saab EMS or a 1957 Chevy Bel Air. For whatever reasons, at the time, I was a LOT more into the Saab. (I think it was the hood that flipped backwards and/or the key on the floor...) It still eludes me how I didn't want the thousand year old next door neighbors black GTO ragtop which was offered to me...

On the other hand, I was 15, and was warned that I couldn't get a license until my grades improved, or something like that, so I took the little bastard completely apart.

Now mind you, it wasn't for spite. It was curiosity. Ambition. Getting in way too deep over my head...

First real driver was a 1983 Toyota Tercel. Got whacked in the door by some 16 year olds in an old Camaro. Totalled my car. Scratched their license plate. Parents agreed after seeing my cut-away model, of sorts, that Saabs seemed a lot safer. Next car; 1980 Saab 900 Turbo.

There was a Toyota Camry in there somewhere, and the use of a Toyota toaster-looking van for a while. A couple of Volvo 240's, even one with a manual transmission once, should you think they were just folklore...

I vicariously got to experience a DeLorean for a year or two; does that count?

Completely took apart an otherwise 1976 Jaguar XJ6L once too. Never got further than the peelout marks all over the driveway, until I blew the transmission and disassembled it all, thinking it'd turn into a Rolls Royce after a teenage restoration project...

A drunk just totalled my PT Cruiser, left parked in a moment of sillyness on the streets of central Philadelphia.

Leased a 1997 Mustang Cobra for 5 years. Blew it's motor AND transmission in the first year.

Bought a 2003 Mustang Cobra convertible, which was supercharged from the factory once, but it was more or less the now ex-girlfriends car.

Had a 1980 ROW Porsche 911 Targa, but sold that one, again, after kind of taking it apart. (lol)

I mostly now drive my brothers 1983 Mercedes 300TD sedan. Works. Safe. Not mine. Definitely not my never-will-be-done-it-seems 928S4...

The rest of the cars, in various states of assembly/roadworthiness remain attached to my signature line below. I can't bear to part with most of them. Now. Anyway. Unless................

Nick

P.s. - Anyone looking for a good deal on a Maserati Biturbo Spyder???
P.s.s - Would any combination of the below interest anyone in trading me a Ferrari for some/all???
P.s.s.s. - The 928 isn't included in the former. That is, unless we're talking an assembled & running Ferrari.
P.s.s.s.s. - The latter can be disregarded if the Ferrari came equipped with the optional Christie Brinkley or a reasonable facsimile thereof...

1989 Porsche 928 S4
1960 Citroen 2CV
1973 Citroen SM
1986 Maserati Biturbo Zagato Spyder
1971 Mercedes 280S
1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Coupe
1974 Alfa Romeo Spider
