Default My Shop is Done!! Well Almost....

My shop is finally done with the 1st phase of construction.

Now I need to put in some cabinets and a sink, wire it, put in my 2-stage air compressor and lines, and install my 12k lb 2-post lift. It's getting there!!

It's an all-metal 36'x50' with 12' walls.

Nice work!

I'm extremely envious! Waiting to see what happens with a buyout of my employer before building one.

I have a '67 Mustang convertible that I have owned since '88. I plan on completely restoring it in that shop. It will definitely be used for tooling on 928's as well.

The insulation is R8 on the walls and R6 on the roof. I will heat it with a natural gas heater.

I took that picture from my house which sits on a hill above the shop. I wish it also carried an HO train set building price tag.

I already have the lift, it's a Mechanix Two Post Lift MTP-12F.

It's sitting in there now waiting to be installed. It weighs 2400 lbs!!

Did you use spray insulation or bats with poly and drywall? I'm interested as my building is a shell at the moment. I'm also considering in floor solar heating system. as we have only propane on our property.

It was rolls of very thin insulation made for metal buildings. It is white on the inside and silver on the outwards facing side.
It's only about 1/4" thick and goes between the frame and metal siding.

The shop will make the wife unit happy due to the relocating of all my car stuff from the garage and basement to the shop.

I'm thinking about adding a voice activated lock so whe can't get in. Just kiddin!!

Or you could install an intercom to the house like I did. My kids were younger when I built my building. The intercom allowed me to go out to the detatched building and be paged if necessary. My wife only used the intercom to check on my safety with a car lift in there and working alone.
