Major shop envy.
I think we need to move to the country.

Further proof that size does matter.

The shop is really nice to have (major understatement). I'm doing my 1st major work on my GTS in there (complete brakes with drilled rotors) and it is so nice to have a large counter top area to spread parts out on. Repacking the bearings and repainting the splash shields as well. The car has been on the lift for 2 weeks and I'm just taking my time cleaning the underside and wheel wells.

Definitely go for the in floor heating!

Take a look at wood boilers. They make some that sits outside. Just use a glycol solution so when you don't use it it does not freeze.

Lots of wood around you....

I went with a 225k BTU gas heater suspended from the ceiling at about 8' from the floor. It is controlled by a thermostat. It heats very well and the temperature recovers quickly when a garage door is opened and closed to get a car in/out.

Amazing, Dave! Congratulations!

My little story - we were looking at houses in the area last year and the one we really liked was just way too overpriced to take seriously (ie, a 2006 price). Even low-balling the seller didn't seem like it would work because it needed about $40k more to make a few things right. It had a nice over-sized 2-car garage, but it also had plenty of room to build another 3-bay job (with lift, of course... you understand) without coming anywhere near a property line, easement or wetland... perfect! Well, we happened to check the listing again a couple of weeks ago and saw that the price had dropped to the bargain basement!

We discussed it a bit and decided to check it out one more time and jump on it. I called the realtor on Wednesday to make an appointment, and after 2+ years on the market, the son of a bitch went under deposit THAT DAY!!!

We are hoping the deal falls apart...

David
shark-shopzilla is VERY nice.....

I WISH I had a shop......my lowly two car garage is always full with two cars...& neither are my 928's....which makes it a bit challenging to do any significant work on either car (think the wife yells alot)

I'm tellin' ya' fellas, it's been the best money spent on my hobby thus far.

And the wife likes it too, especially when her Honda Odyssey went up on the lift for an oil change and tire rotation. Changing oil while NOT laying on your back and getting crap in your eyes makes it,......fun?, I am sick or what?
