Buy a $2 can of starter fluid and spray it into your air intake for about 2 seconds. Does your car start? Does it start and then die (once the starter fluid has been burned up)?

Or does it still not start?

The answers to the above will help quickly and cheaply and easily identify where your problem resides (i.e. fuel or spark related).

Try that pesky fuel relay? (swap horn and fuel) Hear the fuel pump when you turn the key? Is the fuel pump fuse good?

Thanks for the speedy reply...but my wireless keyboard died as I was starting this thread...So I will now fill in where I stand with my car...83 S...been rehabing it all summer. Went to move it the other day so I could continue working on it...I would crank but not fire....drained a new battery trying to get it to fire...Recharge the battery, and read some threads on no starts..Well this morning as I was giving it another go I listened for the fuel pump kicking in before fully ingaging the ignition. Nothing....so I pulled the relay and swapped it with the intensive washer relay....turn key...hear pump humming...engage starter engine turns over...almost fires for a second and dies.....Very puzzled as it was running 11 days before just fine.....but isn't that what they all say! If she was a manual...I'd roll and try the pop the clutch...but alas shes an Auto. So as of this thread...1 928 that won't start and 1 microsoft wireless keyboard that just **** the bed....doesn't seem to be my weekend!..lol
All help with the car problem appreciated....the keyboard...I'm deepsixing it!!

Careful on the Starter Fluid!

You will need to prop open your MAF if it is an OB to prevent a back fire pressure burst what would pop the spider! Had I not done this when suffering the same problem earlier this year, I would be installing another spider or intake plenum.

Full tank of gas and stabilizer for the winter....have chart and have done the relay switch...and the pump is now humming along...still not running....Wondering if all the trying to start it the other day....with a bad relay might lead to another problem?? which is why it's not firing now?

There is also a relay that controls the fuel injection. # XVI Fuel Injection Relay # 928.615.119.00

That was my problem to because my injectors were dry, but the rail pressure was near 50psi.

Oh by the way...I finally installed the S spoiler I got from you...all the clips that were included were a lifesaver....thanks again!! Hows your collection doing? Still at 3-4 or 5?

Yes I'm thinking that may be it....all the attempts to start with no fuel pumping, may be it...dry injectors....I'm hoping thats all!

Lets hope thats the problem.

I'm glad the spoiler worked out for you.

As for the collection, still three. I hope to pare it down soon.

I agree, replace the FI control relay, which I think has a green dot on it. Then replace the incorrect one you put in for the fuel pump with a correct relay.

All will be healed.

If the relays don't pan out...............next easy check would be the sensors. If the Time Temp Sensor has failed, then the CSV will not be getting the info it needs to shoot extra fuel into the injector. I had that problem on my '84.

WSM page 24-17 under the Fuel Supply heading has the step by step for testing the sensors. I tried to post a pdf file, but can not figure out how to shrink the pdf so it's under 172kb?

Keep us posted as to the fix, you'll get it!
