Don't we have a rollover relay or switch thing that if it fails would prevent fuel flow to the engine? Where is it located. It would be worth a check?

The L-Jet cuts the fuel if the RPM are not above a certain point. I think its around 400 RPM.

If I was testing for fuel pressure, How do you go about it, do you disconnect the line and run the end into a bottle and turn the engine over to see if it is pumping it? Or is there a better way with a gauge or tool? Always learning something new!!

That will test flow and you would need to time it in order to know the flow. In order to measure pressure you will need to fit a gauge, usually to the end of your passenger side fuel rail.

Does anyone here know how to jumper the F.I. relay on the 83 so that Skiviking can test his?

do a search, you can run the fuel rail into a gal jug, run the pump for 30 seconds and you should have "X" amount in the jug. In fact search for a post of mine with my No-start 84 issue. I did this test but forget the details. My problem ended up being clogged injectors. I had spark, fuel pressure but still no go.

the FP should be fuse 22 and you want to short 30 and 87 on the relay

Not fuel PUMP relay, fuel INJECTION relay.

Check the simple things first then go for the fuel flow and pressure testing. Take the injection relay cover off (2 minutes), plug it back into the board, squeeze the contacts together with your fingers and crank over the engine with your other hand. If it fires and runs while you are holding the contacts, you found the problem.
I had this exact problem with my ’83 (came out of the blue too) and so did others too. This is a very simple and easy way to test the relay and it costs nothing.

Ok IMO, I will give that a shot first...before moving on to the other tests then....probably will get to it in the next day or two...thanks!

Hello IMO,
I tried removing the cover....it feels like if I put to much pressure on the tabs to remove the cover the board that I'm sure the contacts are attached to might chip or crack...should the tabs come back easily or is a certain amount of pressure needed? Maybe I should get a spare in case I damage this relay taking it apart and thus negating the test?
any advice?

Going from memory here: Just use a small flathead screwdrier and pry up the tabs, then simply pull the cover off. This way you will not damage anything internal in the relay.

I use a pair of needle nose plyers to pry them back.
