Shawn, I'm the same way. I HATE to take a hammer to any part of a car. Experienced mechanics do it all the time though, and the cars seem none the worse for wear.

Sounds like $60 was a cheap purchase for being able to move on...

Glad to hear it, Shawn! Yeah, the two-hammer method works really well, though there is some risk depending on how good your swing is...

It worked like a charm for me as well when doing this, but I was terrified ripping the boot by a missed blow with the hammer
Glad you got it sorted in the end, it is really frustrating when you get stuck like that.

The funny thing is that I was just commenting to my brother how easy the drivers side went and how amazed I was at how the Ball Joint lifter had worked. Just tap it in and turn the screw and pop, out came the joint, amazing. The the next day I go to finish the project with the passenger side, and look what happens!!!

Well with two boots to replace, and one going very smooth............that means I went 1 for 2, batting .500

I will take that I guess.

See, next time you'll keep your trap shut until the job is done.

Did you say this within earshot of the car? Sharks have very good ears, you know...

So basically you ended up having to go to a pro for your bj?

Tsk tsk tsk. Sad. Very sad.

That is the funny thing, I waited until I was out of earshot
I learned my lesson.

Well, I guess as long as you're happy with the end results, who am I to criticize?

Glad to hear you're back in the saddle again.
