Keith- Thanks for the clarification. For the sake of variety we can run in the CCW direction, heading out 38 East first, and then come down either Hwy 18 or 330. The non-freeway portion of that drive is about 85 miles. Looks pretty good from here!
I'll have my V1 with me, set on stun.

Thanks for the clarification, Keith -- just got myself turned around I guess, and as I mentioned I don't know what I did with the '05 route map. Even though the specifics of te route escape me, there are parts of it that are etched in my mind forever. IIRC we had an AWESOME twisty climb up a nice 4-lane and I seem to recall the ride down having a lot more straights and swoopy turns... I'm sure it's a blast in either direction. I'll never forget Joe Serio's comments after I passed him on the outside at full boil on the way up. I think it was the first time he had heard an OB trying to climb in his open passenger window like that.

I can only speak for myself, but I had a blast today on the drive up and down Rim of the World. The weather was flawless, and I think we were ticket-free (despite a strong CHP presence on the 91- I got lasered point blank just after seeing the motorcycle cop take aim, which earned us a helpful chaperoning from the chase car for a few miles.).
For those in SoCal who missed the run (set aside 4 hours and go do this drive- trust me), and for those who didn't (but would like to see where we actually went with legible maps that are actually in color), here's the pdf of the instructions:

Here's the crew at the first stop, before driving up Highway 38:

I learned that it kind of helps to recon the route BEFORE trying to pull 20+ sharks into a scenic overlook that A) isn't scenic and B) might fit 6 cars at most.
But eventually we were rewarded with a killer view from the overlook on ROTW highway (CA-18):

I even managed to ruin the best shot with a closeup of my camera strap
. Dave (Sharkskin) and others had their cameras a-snappin', I'm sure there are prettier pictures to follow.

It was great seeing everyone and I hope everyone got home safe!
PS- How was Pancho's? I made it from Fontana to UC Irvine in 62 minutes

Thanks again for setting this up Rob,this was a great trip. I prefer it to the run we did north of Azusa in '06 (my only comparison since last year's run was a bust).
Pancho Villa's was great, except for the very loud Mariachi bands. We were about 10 feet from the stage.

Great ride, Rob! Just the right amount of exercise, no problem with tickets or breakdowns, modest traffic in the mountains, perfect weather and spectacular roads and scenery.
Sorry I couldn't stay for lunch, but I had to boogie up 210 where it split from 215S, and I almost took another attendee with me, but at the last second he saw my hand signals for him to go the other way.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Can't wait until the next Sharktoberfest.
Thanks again for putting the ride together!

It was a fantastic ride -- amazing how few slowdowns we encountered, and especially amazing how many of the slow drivers saw fit to get out of our way. Extra kudos to the guy in the tanker truck who came to a complete stop on the grade to let us by, and the raspberry-of-the-day award goes to the guy in the SUV on the way down who couldn't bring himself to get out of our way for a mile or two. ![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
BTW, for future reference -- I think the CW direction would have given us easier access to at least the vista point that my above pic was taken from, and maybe others. Not complaining here, just a "FWIW" for next time.
I'll try to convert my pics down to web size tonight and post a few.
