We are smart enough to know that not all 18 yr old Porsche owners are drug users too, so you are safe, THIS TIME.

But we are watching you......

Has nothing to do with age and everything to do with actions and character.

Absolutely.

As I read this, I recall some similarly stupid things I did to my family and friends at Ross' age. (There was no internet back then to scam distant strangers)

I will be the first to admit I was a complete tool, and am embarrassed of my actions and character back then. I have no excuse. I just remember that I didn't care - about anyone, myself, or the future. I was mad at my father, but I took it out on everyone around me. I didn't know how to deal with it.

I did turn out ok, and I am extremely proud of that, because I am sure people had similar thoughts about me - that I was headed for prison, death, etc.

Then one day, I just woke up and turned it around. I got over my anger. I sucked it up, grew up, worked hard, married a saint of a woman, got a couple of lucky breaks, and here I am 20 years later.

I wish the same for Ross, 20 years from now.

Sorry to hear about the abuse of good intentions, I was going to offer him a spare bedroom if needed when Bigs was trying to hunt him down the day he was suppose to arrive down here. I guess he stopped about 70 miles shy of Big's place and threw his whole evening out of wack. Big's was kind enough to clear his schedule for the evening Ross was supposed to arrive and I think it was quite the insult to put him off for a day. Some people have structured, stable, responsible lives and some people randomly cruise across country without a care in the world or how it affects their kind benefactors. Bigs is like a fragile egg...OK, maybe a tough old frazzled egg but you need to treat kind people gingerly and don't abuse their generosity and possibly ruin it for someone in need that may actually appreciate it.

The whole smoking thing in the motel room is just pure irresponsiblity. What a way to say thanks...Bigs turned the other cheek and got it slapped too.

Wow - what a disappointment! Now I feel bad having supported this trip.

Ross: If you are reading this: I hope you have finished your business with kiesan and will return the $250 to Bigs. I expect to read some positive news here soon!

Bigs: I'm so sorry that you were burdened with this extra cost, and I really hope Ross will make it up to you. I'm glad you saw some early warning signs, though!

What gives. I have not been on the list much lately, but here in FLA we figured out that this Whitefox clown was just that, at least two to three years ago. Didn't anybody put up some red flags when this whole fiasco was in the planning stages? The internet is not Mayberry. It contains the same proportion of creeps and nere-do-wells as the real world. I find it amazing that this whole thing got this far.

Bigs,

You're a better man than I am.

Ross,
The choice is yours. If you've got any ***** you'll log in and respond to this. You owe Bigs much more than the $250 'fee' he's referring to. A man would own up to it, apologize and make restitution.

Your move.

All a man has in this life is his dignity and his honor. When he gives those up he is bankrupt.

I am sorry for your troubles, bigs.

And people wonder why I am such a cynical, demanding sunuvabitch. HA! I am not going to change either, bigs.

I also wonder if this was somehow related to why his bike was impounded...

$50 +/- I feel fortunate that my experience with Ross was not negative. I am very simpathetic to those that had a negative experience.
So for fifty bucks I got to feel like I was helping someone out for an hour or so. Sharing in his experience. For Bigs that same feeling cost $500. That sucks and I am very sorry. I hope someday Ross will have an opportunity to make that right with you and others.

2400 miles/40mpg = 60 gallons x $4/gal = $240 give or take a few $
I didn't add up what ya'll posted giving him for gas, but I think it's a tad more than that

He was probably trying to score some pain killer because of the soreness, aches, and pains caused by riding that long.

One of the things I've found when doing charitable acts. You simply must give with zero expectations for the benefactor of the gift.

However, the extra charge for smoking with no call or warning before the bill showed up is pretty inconsiderate and shows a general lack of appreciation and/or maturity. If the smoking charge policy was not well advertised it seems he would have at least noticed the charge on the room bill.

If Ross had come thru OKC, I would have been happy to put him up, feed him, fill the tank, and send him on his way. He would of had to pay by listening to my sagely BS during his stay here.

Some hotels I've stayed in have signs in the room that specify it is a non-smoking room and extra charges will be incurred if that rule is violated. Also have had the front desk clerk reiterate the same non-smoking rule and subsequent charges when checking in.

If the Marriot did not have signs in the room or did not inform the occupant of the non-smoking rule, then Bigs may be able to have the extra charges rescinded.

Oxycontin. That's a highly addictive opiate, isn't it. Nasty stuff when not used therapeutically. Me thinks.

Default bigs I am partly to blame... Sorry!

This glorified dog and pony show would have never trasnspired had I not facilitated this deal for his car and embarked him on his journey. I would of been burned royally were it not for Firemed down in FL to bail me out and unload the car for me.

He sent me an email a few days ago with more or less the same "woe is me my doctor prescribed these pills and now I'm addicted..." story. With this guy everything is always someone else's fault it seems.

I don't expect to ever hear from him again, much less collect on the small sum he owes me. Nor do I expect him to make good on the last little bits of the deal we had for his car... some paperwork, a few spare parts to still take delivery of, etc.

Sorry man!
