Don't know why there are no shots of you....you were definitely out there a lot. Probably the same time I was out there ...bummer...One thing about taking the pics..you never get shots of yourself either...

One of these days we'll get our acts together and have in car video from everyone ...

Yes he did, what a lucky SOB. Louie wanted to hear what his car sounded like and asked if I would do a couple of laps. Sure that sounds like a no brainer but driving someone elses car at the track is not without risk especially a work of art like this.

I treated it with kid gloves and waved most people by except on the straight where Louie was standing and then I let it rip. Whooooohooooo, loads of power, smooth and it sounds much better in the car than out of it.

Who needs gears, 4th and 5th were just fine except for the two really tight corners.

I was concentrating on where I was going but I did see the PSD light flashing on and off quite a bit.

Great conclusion to the whole day for me.

You guys had a spectacular setup....haven't seen a big rig like that in ages...so how many of you guys came down from Alberta? I saw you in the GT-3, the gold 951 and the Carrera 4S...were there others in the truck?...

It's a fun track to run and it's always a good mix of cars. We're there twice a year..usually Sept and May... check with Scott Adare..he knows us well by now
Cheers...

try the swepco in the old bugger transmission.
If you are having trouble getting it into gear when stopped (reverse or 1st), try the intermediate plate adjustment i just discovered. It works great and if the tranmission is not too far gone, it might give you a few more race years!

You should try and come down to our SCCA ITE grandfinale race at the end of Oct.

I'll give the swepco a try....my clutch is a 91 single disk setup..so no adjustment there. I have no issues driving the car normally, it's just when the driving get a little spirited that it will grind.....I think a fluid change will definitely help.

I'll be prepping my car to meet the SCCA specs this winter so I'm not ready yet, but I will pass the info along to Ken, John, and Dick Pierson as they may be interested.

Hey Bill,

As Tom mentioned, I'm still tracking down parts and info before my rebuild.
John's tranny was awesome. I have mine adjusted so that it shifts pretty soft, this way weird things don't happen on the track. I thought I had mine maxed out to where I have to time the downshift at 2500rpms in third. If I tried to downshift at any higher rpms with my tranny, I couldn't rev match. With John's tranny I could rev match as the tach needle swept down past 3500rpms. This meant if I used the same brake points I'd already be in second exiting the brake zone and could enter the turn under power, or I could hold off on braking later in the brake zone, carry more speed into the corner, and make the transition to power at turn in. It was good to see that there is more headroom in there for adjustment in manual downshifting, without giving up firm shifts in upshifting. My main concern with rebuilding my A/T with all heavy duty parts is that I don't want it to shift like a drag racer, very hard and quick (and therefore balance shifting) shifts. I needs the tranny to provide light changes and have enough daylight between the shifts to allow for rev matching in between.

Tom, lets rebuild some LSD's dude, mine's going to need it too.

We just had the three of us in the transporter although it hauls 5 cars. The fellow with the 951 flew down in his plane to join us. It's a 12 hour drive but just a little over 2 hours by plane. We're usually in Spokane twice a year as well. We were down in March but that school was snowed out; we did take the C4S out on the track in the snow (we had a set of snow tires in the trailer) which was a blast. We're off to Miller Motorsport Park in a few weeks with a full load of 5 cars.

Looks like you caught the lap where I lost my shifting...tranny got hot and I had no gears....I coasted around turn one and two..before it finally went into a gear... freaky feeling pointing everyone by in turn two....
Funny my car didn't sound too loud on the camera...it certainly did inside the car though..
