Default Stupid N00B Question: Changing Oil in 1980 16v

Let me preface this by saying I'm a complete n00b to 928's [Porsche's for that matter]. I've just recently gotten myself into a 1980 16v needing pseudo-restoration (more on that later). I've been reading all the "normal maintenance" threads/articles online in order to get a feel for the basics do's and don'ts on this model Porsche.

So... changing on the oil on a 16v. Where is the fracking filler cap!? I see the oil separator can with associated strainer inside. I'm not going to go dumping 9 qts of <insert favorite crude here> into the separator w/o further direction. Is this the preferred method for changing the shark's oil? If so, with or w/o the strainer installed in the can?

....you'll probably find many other ridiculous n00b posts from my neck of the woods.

The oil is added through the separator. If you pull the strainer out, you will see a drain down to the crankcase. BTW add some oil to the new filter before installing.

Makes me pine for the old days when a certain individual would shoot back "read the owner's manual!"

Dennis, thanks for the help mate.
Dan... alas, no owners manual shipped with this buggy. Currently working on securing one... [as well as several other important docs]

Also, if you don't know, the oil separator is in the front of engine on top with the yellow six pointed **** on top.

Come on guys. The WK method has been superceeded. Now you use a mityvac and tube down the dipstick. Four or five hours of pumping and you're done. It also helps build up the triceps for shifting.
