So my "Sheet metal" idea on the 2V is to use the original runners of the spider. The original, stock, USA runners from an 82 engine. At the entry, they are 1.5" or so, which is around 38.1mm. No, not very big. BUT - the port in the head is not that different. More like 39mm or so.

Now the EXIT of the runner is smaller. But that can be opened a bit to match it to the port. Easy stuff. It necks down for the injector bung, but hey, I gotta start somewhere.

So instead of using the spider body, I can have a larger body made from aluminum that will have a front mounted throttle body, just like I always wanted. And cut the runners back a bit and mount these on the ends:

The entry of the runner will then be MUCH better with the bell mouth. Some machining of the ends of the runners will be required. The entry as I said will be moved slightly back, which widens the total area of the body of the spider (kind of like Carl did, but easier) and I can then put a front mount throttle body on.

Viola - much less time spent on flanges and runners for the 2V engine so I can get the damn thing in. I am getting very close now.
