Default A/C Drain

Any advice on where/how to clean out the condensation drain(s?) for the air conditioning?

Couldn't find anything on this searching the archives, but undoubtedly someone else has felt that cold water on their toes (it's actually not a bad sensation in 100 degree Texas summer weather ;-)

Worth trying the drain tube that runs from the bottom of the HVAC box down to the TT tunnel under the center console. This often gets clogged with crap.

I extracted it from behind the center console - push fit IIRC - cleaned it and put it back.
Not that easy to do but doable. Need small hands.

Sterling:

It's right at the junction of the TT and bellhousing, though I can't imagine how you'd get to it without dropping the cat heat shields,

However, looking at this shot, it might be reachable from just in front of the shielding:

If you look at the large rubber bush you will see the drain hose pushed through it and that pulls up from above. About as hard to get to from above.
So reach behind the cruise brain and you will find the Y tube. Pull it firmly upwards and it will slide out of the large rubber bush. Detach it from the HVAC box and clean. Replaement is the reverse of the above 8>)
Just went and repeated the procedure on one of my cars to make sure my memory was still good.

I have the "wet ankle" situation on my 87 at the moment.
I have checked the down pipe from the drain hose to the TT and it is clean.
Removed the rubber hose and that also checks out.
The blockage seems to be higher in the HVAC plenum.
I may dig deeper with pictures this weekend.

A higher access than the drain tube would be at the blower box, wouldn't it? You should just be able to remove the blower motor boot and reach up in the box and find the hole to the drain and unclog it.

John,
The lowest point in the HVAC box is below the evaporator and heater matrix and you could not reach those from the blower area.

So, how did it go?

As you might guess, I'm currently dealing the the cold-water-on-feet-during-right-turns syndrome as well... ;-)
