I don't know why they put on that cover.

Regarding the hatch, I am sure that this was a requirement to get the 928 registered as a pick-up. It seem they also had to remove the rear quarter windows. It seems the rules are now changed, the TT in the article seems it has just replaced the hatch with a box.

My car was imported to Norway as a Van/Truck in 1984. I am not sure what was done to it but according to the holes drilled in it it once had a box not unlike the one the TT has in the rear. But Norwegian rules allowed the hatch and the rear quarter windows to stay in place, thank god. The rules was changed in 1984, leading to Norwegians buying lots of 928s in Germany and Europe in the weeks before the change, slapping some plexiglass into the rear and importing it.

I love it. I'm glad it's not mine, but I love that it exists. It's kind of of the the mullet of the car world, except the party is in the front here.
