Jason, ask Roger if he's watched Napoleon Dynamite yet. *slight story there, he wondered if you had a boyfriend in the avatar, or if that was a flamer thing.
What a cool weekend. Rog/Jim/Rusty(Korwins dad)/and I went to Austin to meet up with the crew down there and had a good time, only took us 2 hours to get there and an hour to find the meet up place. Rog wanted to take us on a detour to see the city. Had 12 cars show up at Rudy's and had some good conversation. Us DFW'ers need to make this a semi-monthly thing going down there. Looks like the Austin guys are getting back together now, with so many new members, it's getting larger.

Today I got up early (wow, lack of beverages the night before will allow you to do that) and tinkered with my car. Replaced the 02 sensor (last on a long list) and it woke the car up big time. Posted about it on RW. Car is amazing right now.....as I had it in the air I noticed my lower ball joints are in coming due. Wonderful, add that to the MM/PG/massive degreasing job ahead of me under there.
Should I go ahead and do the Rod bearings also? It's got over 170k on the bottom end.
Hope it's been a great weekend for everyone.

De Greasing? let me guess..you guys crawl underneath and clean the road crud off of the underside. Wow. I thought I was the only one who did that. Ya pretty much have to on my brothers car or else you run a risk of "flare ups" should the engine overheat. It makes a big difference keeping the whole thing clean. I can spot fluid leaks when they are small.

EDIT: Found it, damn tricky clutch slave cylinder.
So, another question while I've got the car in pieces. The Blue Hose. Can it be changed without taking off the brake booster or cutting a hole in the wheel well? If my fingers are small enough, can I get down there and take it on/off without too much trouble? Thanks!

The good news is that a 5% improvemnt looks HUGE on me. Just haven't found enough of them. I started dying my hair white when I was in my twenties so women wouldn't keep jumping me in parking lots. Whooda thunk they would both somehow become permanent?

Just for grins, I took Sean and Danny's advice from last weekend, and dragged out the Simple Green and the power washer for the bottom of the car. Off came the pans, down went a big plastic tarp, up went the car. Half a gallon of Simple Green, half an hour with the long-handle scrub brush, five minutes with the pressure washer. Bit of a mess on the tarp but the driveway is still clean. Bottom of the motor and the rest of the chassis look a lot better, maybe close to what Danny's looks like after his big project.
I was thinking about using some of that Purple Degreaser but remembered my own advice to read the label. Sodium Hydroxide and butyl something or other. Same as caustic soda oven cleaner in a spray bottle. Ouch! I'll save that for cleaning the barbeque grill! Simple Green and hot water in the pressure washer did the trick nicely.

The tarp, must remember the tarp. Great idea. Saves me hours of power washing the drive.
I've been debating about using Formula 88 (purple stuff) and then power washing. I like how simple Simple green is. Glad that worked for you Dr. Bob.
