> It's not just about rwhp. The strokers make gobs of torque at low levels.
And that's exactly what I'm after!
GB has promised to make me _fear_ 1st gear. I like that concept

I fear first gear and i only have 300rwhp and 300ftlbs of torque!
sticky rubber cant even keep it stuck to the pavement at max torque.

Assuming your motor will perform about like robs.....if you want gobs of low end torque....Doc Brown will DELIVER it
Robs ride is flat WICKED...for a fairly heavy car with an automatic and 2.20 rear end it destroys tires....at a silly pace really..... It still pulls through the RPM's too...its not like the old 350's that were fast through the middle and died up top...it keeps pulling.....I want to say his stroker puts down 500ftlbs at something like 2100rpm....
As a comparison....I drove Louies 584whp monster stroker....I would say down low Robs feels stronger...which makes sense, since Louie designed his more for mid-top end power....

This may have already been addressed, but it seems as good a place and time to ask the question as any...

Regarding 6.5L motor output.
Assume you start with a normal S4 5.0L that runs ~270 rwhp.
If you manage to just gain power in proportion to the displacement increase, you're talking an immediate jump to ~350 rwhp.
If you do some additional work while in there (port, polish, intake, exhaust, etc) you might get a streetable 10% or 20% more power, hence my original ballparks of 350 rwhp to 400 rwhp depending on the details.
Now if you go and make a _race_ motor, designed for high rpm, cam and timing dedicated to the top end, no cats, straight pipes, huge intake, etc - now you might be above 400 rwhp (but I don't think you get to your 500 number - that's only done if you're up above 7 liters which requires new cylinders - stock block is maxed near 6.5L).
And yes, it costs tons of money - mostly due to the ultra low volume custom parts and the extra-high-skill labor involved in doing the conversion.
The Wisconsin boy's SC setup is a vastly more practical and economical way to get big power. I might have gone that route, but I live in California where I can't get an SC past the emissions people. I can, however, probably sneak a stock-looking stroker past inspection, especially if it's nicely tuned, running cats, and actually running quite clean.

I have seen some posts talking about over 500rwhp and I know they are 6.5L motors but maybe they are also blown in some way and I just was not aware of that...
Again it seems like a HUGE disparity between the "regular" 6.5L and a few "race" 6.5L motors...
Show me where my thinking is messed up on this one...

I'm not sure where all these motors you are referencing are from.
If you've gone to 6.5L and are making 330 rwhp, then you're probably still on the original factory chips, which are not providing the proper fuel and air to the larger motor. The sharktuner has cured that issue in modern times.
And I am simply not aware of any 6.5L motor that's making 500 rwhp, even in race form.
Can you supply a single example, or is this just a poorly remembered version of one of the supercharged or 7+ liter motors?

Show us what the heck you are talking about.

Louie's 6.4litre stroker makes 570rwhp....and there are several other similar motors in existance.

Louie's motor is the real deal. EFI tuned with a DTA Pro8 (IIRC) on his own dyno, and he also has short stack individual runners. Eschewing the original LH is the first step in real power for an engine this far from stock. That last bit is my opinion.

I can attest to the fact that the "Beast" is indeed a real car....having rode in it on the same day I DROVE Louies.....
There really aren't that many 500+whp strokers out there & to have two of them in one place at the same time (SATL) is pretty impressive....since the two LA based strokers race together all the time too (Anderson-Fan), but those cars are race cars, not street cars....
Louies really is a street car....it drives just like a street 928 should, but with far more power....the engine isn't high strung and doesn't mind idling or putting around town at low RPM....

> I can certainly show you a 6.4L NA motor, stock ignition and stock (kind of) intake that makes over 500 rwhp and tq on Tom Cloutier's dyno.
OK - I stand corrected. The ones I'm familiar with don't run that high, but I'll take your guys' word for it.
I'm still targetting 400 rwhp and obscene levels of torque on my stroker, with the emphasis on stealth and streetability as opposed to all out top end power. I'll also be running cats and a mild exhaust in the interest of keeping it clean, legal, and not-too-offensive.
