Help,
It's TB/WP and Torque tube time and I need some shops and mechanic recomendations please. I'm through being ripped off by our local dealers in this area. Anything within a 100 miles of Seattle will be appreciated.

Leif is a good 928 mechanic and I just did similar job with him,
TB/WP
Torque Tube (rebuilt 928 intl unit $495)
A/C blower (I supplied part)
Install used seat motor (part was $150)
The bill was $4600 so he is not cheap. My only complaint is he did not investigate why the torque tube in the car (same 928 intl unit) only lasted 17,000 miles/4 years.
The answer was found here on Rennlist "Make sure you are getting vacuum to the modulator. If you are then adjust the thing back a bit. Some people think they are smart tightening up the modulator to get hard shifts. Leave it that way and you will end up with a broken torque tube". I had my local guy adjust the modulator.

www.eatel.net/~dslabat/mech.htm Is a list of 928 mechanics. There are 3 on the list in Seattle. If you use another that is GOOD let Dana know his info so others will know too. It would be great to have a more complete list.

Just a quick update on the mechanic's list....Paul Weir is no longer in Seattle and left under dubious conditions..(I think he opened shop up elsewhere). I also don't think Akers is taking on any more W's..unless you've been working with him for a long time. John Walker is a 914 shop but I hear he does some 928 work. Another place that may do 928's (not sure on their experience with them) is Gerber Automotive..north of Seattle (Magnolia I think) ...left overs from Paul Weir started that place up...
Thanks Tom....I sent Dana your info. I hope he updates his list. Its a great idea IMHO and hope others will share their experiences. Not an "endorcement".....just mechanics that have good experience working on 928's.
