Exclamation BEWARE Scammer prowling our Classifieds

Beware fellow Rennlisters. There is this

Bob Haley with email windocroler1658@live.com

Trying to buy my wheels and wanted me to send money through Western Union for the shipping. Good thing I picked up on it right away.

I've searched his info in google and found out he did some scams on the eham.net and other electronic forums.

Mike,

What's the Western Union scam?

Edit: I see, he was asking you to send money when you're the seller.

You can send money through Western Union for Goods&Services. However, both parties should be trusted. If not, one person may be taking a large risk. I've used WU several times when the other party does not have PAYPAL. Fortunately, I am not out rip people off so all goes well....

Ahhh....the W.U. scam....
Buyer sends you a {counterfeit} check or money order for $XX OVER the agreed sales price, requesting that you then W.U. the extra $XX to the shipping company...or some similar bullsheet...

The catch...the check/money order you got is FAKE and you've already sent the $$ to the "shipping company" via W.U.

I found this post written by one of the members in the forum where they discovered that this guys was scamming. and this is exactly what he was asking me to do... that he sent me a check and send the rest to the shipping company via western union.

Have fun with scammers!

You can have a lot of FUN with the scammers. When they want to send you a cashier's or company check and have you send the excess amount of the check to their "shipping company" by Western Union, tell them sure. You will receive some very impressive COUNTERFEIT checks and postal money orders. Don't try to cash them, just show them to your friends...most people have never seen a real counterfeit check.(Remember, it cost the scammer money to have these items produced and sent to you via FEDEX or UPS). For the other slim ***** that want to send you 12 or 15 or 20 million dollars, they always want your name address and Phone number. The name I send them is Herb Philbrick (a very famous FBI agent), the address of my local FBI office and their phone number. It is a nice suprise for these schmucks when they spend the money to make an international call and end up talking to the FBI. The more you can do to waste the scammers time and money, the better off we will all be. If George Bush really wanted to do something for America, he would invade Nigeria (where most of these slime ***** operate).

Just last week someone who made it sound like he/she was in Portland, OR offered to buy all items I had listed on Craigslist. Same wording...bad English...his shipping company would pick up items... would be overnighting payment, etc.

Unfortunatly, Craigslist does not have a "report scammer" link (that I know of) so I guess the guy still is trying to rip people off by sending out dozens/hundreds of offers to buy items. He targeted only items over $200 in value.

It's dangerous out there.

Here's my absolute FAVORITE scam-related website!
(Caution - adult content - no nudity, but...well you'll undertand if you spend some time there)
www.ebolamonkeyman.com

This guy scams the nigerian scammers...you know the deal...I'm a banker in Nigeria. I have 100 go-zillion dollars that is unclaimed and I want to give you 25% for helping me get it out of the country...

Anyway - this site is a compilation of his scamming the scammers.

CAUTION - It is very easy to get caught up and spend several hours on this site. You WILL be crying from laughter.
