There has been a fair share of cop bashing on this forum lately....... which of course are easy targets to complain about..... I tell all of the college kids that tell me "I wanna be a cop" DON'T DO IT, be a firefighter.....everyone hates cops and loves firefighters....

If you see a thread called: "Stupid cop gave me a ticket", then don't click on it.

Stick to threads called: "Transmission rebuild questions" and you should be fine.

Yeah, women love firefighters. Its unfortunate that firefighters have to have a Freddie Mercury mustache.

I agree with Charley. Some of my best friends are (have been) cops. I work out at the gym with cops every week. We beat each other up and laugh and go on. I know cops who have literally and directly protected my life. You want me to hate them? I don't think so. I know women who are ******, but I don't hate all women. In fact....well we won't go into that. Actually, in Sunnyvale, cops spend half their time as firefighters, and then rotate back to cops for the next six months. Nice arrangement if you ask me, and maybe it keeps them from becoming so cynical. If I wasn't a vegan and into nutrition, I might consider opening a donut shop behind my office. Everyone has to eat after all don't they?

Randy has an unerring ability to know when a thread has gone beyond diminishing returns of usefulness.

Well, except when I don't agree with his judgement.

I thought the Server Gnomes magically sends threads to their correct slots on the forum.
Computers. It's all magic.

Don't hate the uniform. Just the occasional asshat wearing it.
But don't tell it to his/her face whilst their hand is caressing

their weapon.

Which forum was I in. Oh yeah.
Got a nice Momo steering wheel spacer. About 1/2 inch.
Going to what that does to my Momo steering wheel.
The Italian equivalent to the 928 extended hub steering wheel.
Hope I don't end up with a steering wheel like them Nascar race cars.

Well said. Emo cop shouldn't have started a thread with a loaded question. Otherwise you should start one saying 'Is this the "I hate lawyer" forum? ' that's another trick question.

Randy should send this to OT where the neocons can make there junior high jokes.

I think it is a huge mistake being rude to people like SeanTT. Not only is it a good way to ensure that next time he stops someone he's going to be more likely to be antogonistic. But also we end up losing him from this forum.

Purely from a point of enlightened self interest, that is a really bad idea. Anyone who thinks his insight isn't useful when dealing with other traffic cops is an idiot.

One the 928UK list we were lucky enough to have a multi 928 owning traffic cop for several years. Not only was his advice invaluable, but he's a really nice guy as well, and quite willing to conceed that not all of his colleagues were as cool as him.

So it looks like SeanTT has gone - and it is our loss. What a shame.

My family was preyed-upon by a pair of cops awhile back in mid sized city. I marched down to HQ, demanded to see the chief (he had publicized an open-door policy, mainly to address with other community issues). Never saw the chief. Landed instead in front of a microphone flanked by IA officers. Six weeks later, got a letter of apology in the mail, saying disciplinary action had been taken. Small victory. A little hollow. Something, though.

If you suspect that some sort of DMV/enforcement conspiracy happened, think-through and make your allegations, either to IA or governing body or media, because its the right thing to do for the community.

If not, there is still lots of value in this discussion. The incident seems profoundly frustrating.

Thank goodness the only real damage was to the spoiler of the 928, at least in the case of our colleague with the mistakenly-suspended license who had his red car towed at entrance to work.I admire his calm, seemingly fair articulation of that incident.

(A still am confused about the stolen car incident also being discussed right now, not sure who did what to whom.)

Actually, if Sean has followed the thread he has discovered two things.

1) Almost to a man, everyone agrees with him, that disparaging all cops as a group, is neither accurate nor fair.

2) Coming on a forum as a newbie and laying down the "law" as to how everyone should behave, is probably not going to be an effective excersize of power.

I have a feeling Sean is not so fragile that he can't deal with a pretty tame back and forth of differring opinions regarding the issues at hand.

Most of us have misspoke at one time or another and had our *** handed to us, we learn and move on. There are some very ascerbic tongues on this board, but a real shortage of MEAN people.

It has been my experience that their are only two transgressions that inevitably get jumped on here. Arrogance and dishonesty.

It has also been my experience that this is a very forgiving group.

So if you start out by telling everyone they should behave in a way that makes you comfortable, because you have laid down your life for their freedom, you might come off as a little arrogant.

Sean has spent his life in fraternal organizations and I doubt seriously he hasn't learned to navigate a group of guys that will probably give you a ration of $hit if you give them too big of an opening. He also knows it's forgotten the next day if he doesn't decide his wounds need special long term attention.

Randy has probably let this thread go on this long because it has been a fairly good natured, low keyed airing of forum conduct.

OK,OK. Sean come back, we miss you man.
