I once hit a huge traffic cone somewhere in Texas, and it caused the front of the fender/bumper cover to bend outward as it got caught under the car. When I returned to California, I went at it with my foot and fist and in no time I had it pounded back into place. Of course my foot and hand were a bit worse off...........but my fender was pretty good.

That sucks, Brian. But it looks like you did a great job repairing.

What side fender do you need Bill? I may have found a good GP White drivers, not going to help me but, maybe you.
I need driver side, but shipping from FL would be a killer, if that's where it is. I'll wait for 928 Intl to get one, if I decide to go that route for sure, and pick it up when I'm down there. Thanks for offering.

I'm not sure why so many people have an aversion to filler. The adhesion of modern filler to metal is absolutely amazing. I can understand people not wanting to have a car with lots of body work, but the days of driving over speed bumps and having all of the bondo fall off are long gone. I would much prefer body filler over 10 coats of high build. If you think you've got it straight, I would suggest at least using some Slick Sand on the damaged area before high build.

Thanks, Afshin. The sharp edges are where I taped off to spray the sealer, the camera flash makes it look funny. Here is a pic after sanding.

Might I suggest that if you have to do that again, you tape it off as though it were a let-down panel? Basically you put the tape on the edge of the masking paper and place the masking paper on the car so that the paper is covering the area you want to spray. Then you fold the paper back but don't pull it tight. This leaves a much softer edge that is a lot easier to to feather in.

The picture makes the edge look a lot thicker than it was. Just sprayed a good smooth coat to see how the panel looked. I am down to final sanding now. When I spray the top coat I will roll back the masking paper after every coat.

That sucks, but it will be ok. Damn, I did that on the side of my garage backing in a 968 about 4 years ago, just grazed the bumper, but of course, had to take the bumper off, strip it, redo it.. yada, yada...

Sorry man....
