If you can get the name of a shop that does alloy go see them then ask to talk to the body guy that actually does the aluminum work ... You might be able to get him to do a "side job" on Saturday with the understanding that you will do the finish work and paint it yourself. Other choice would be find someone who rebodies old race cars hotrods they are often alloy many will do small in and out jobs for quick cash.

Andy: I bet he knows to start w/the code in the door jamb. Maybe that is what you were trying to say.

I wouldnt remove the fender, fix it on the car so you dont damage the undercoating and the securing screws. Any body man that used to working with aluminum should bne able to restore that metal with out any problems, you may have to remove the fenderliner and block off plate. A new fender doesnt always fit as well as the original

This reminds me to move my snowblower out of the way...a little too close for comfort as I make the turn into my garage. Your car looks amazing, which adds to the hurt I'm sure.

Well I decided to fix it myself. Progress is good so far, dent came out pretty good. Just need to get the lip straight. Looks like High Build primer will take care of most, hope to use very little filler. Hard to get a good pic. Thanks for the encouragement, sucks screwing up your own car.

I worry about doing that every morning as I leave. I get the small door of our 3 car garage because Ang gets the big side.

soup

I hate to see that and know how I'd feel, so I feel your pain.

It's good, not great, but I am happier now. The main area is right where all the curves of the fender meet. No real line to follow, just going to have to get the curves to flow together just right. I found a dolly that fit the curvature of the fender perfectly, made the crease easier to remove. I get a little picky about bodywork, and this is one car I want to look right. If it doesn't look good I will still get a fender.

WHAT DENT?? IT'S GONE!! I wish mine came out half as nice. Mine was large and deep and not near the edge, and I'm left with some ripples.

Anyway, nice work! What did you use to shape the fender to the dolly w/o wrecking the paint?

I too have ripples, and will have to repaint. I taped the paint with electrical tape and used this tire weight removal tool as the hammer. White plastic cover is tough but soft.

What side fender do you need Bill? I may have found a good GP White drivers, not going to help me but, maybe you.
