Default Turn signal question

When I turn the car off and the turn signal(left or right) is still engaged both turn signal lights stay on steady. Does anyone else's cars do this? Jason

That is intentional Jason. I think it was designed for parking on narrow streets in Europe for short periods of time. Kind of like we turn on the hazards here when we double park.

I'm not sure which years did it which way. My '88, for example, lites the left side if the left signal is on, and visa versa. I'll have to check the other ones.

Also, my 89 chimes when I open the door if the turn signal is left in the on position.

Guys it isn't the turn-signal.. its the marker lights. USA models combine these into a single lens at the front with a 21W turn signal and 5W marker dual filament bulb.

In single side parking mode only the marker portion will be on - the same (for that side) as when you have marker only lights on (position I of 0/I/II) on the light switch.

ROW cars have seperate markers at the front - and also have fewer overall - no side markers and one fewer at the rear (ROW brakes aren't a combo). So it looks different. Also ROW cars have only about half the power consumption in parking mode as a USA car due to the fewer bulbs active.

Allowing for the differences in lighting fixtures - it was basically implemented the same across all years.

I'll have to check this out when I get home to see how it works. Mine is lighting both front lights at the same time but I have seen it with only one side lit I believe. I'll make a point to check it out and report back this evening. Jason

not to be a smart *** but if you read the owners manual you would know about this feature, and many others, i think you can buy the owners manuals fro 928 international. Stan

My turn signal lever stopped returning to the middle position. This problem, combined with the above mentioned "feature", caused the battery to drain!

Ok looked at it again today. With the car off and the turn signal lever up or down both front turn lights come on along with tail lights and side markers. Looked at the manual and they should be on left or right not all on at the same time.

Do you have an aftermarket alarm or keyless entry?

Try wiggling the light switch a bit - any difference? The only thing that links the left & right markers together is the main light switch. Unless something was added..?
