Post Worst "wife hates my Porsche" story

Ok, just got this idea from the post from the guy trying to get his wife to accept his new Porsche purchase.

Whose wife/girlfriend/significant other has reacted badly to the purchase of a Porsche in your family. How'd it go? How did it end?

I'll start.

About 7 years ago or so, my wife and I were having some problems and were in counseling. I had been lusting after a 1985 Euro 928 S and we had several arguments over this. She said "no way...we can't afford it!" (at the time she was, unfortunately right. But you know the ol' heart over head story).

I decided to buy it. Now this car had been sitting for quite some time and had a pretty weak battery. Well, I went to pick the car up from the seller right before one of our counseling sessions. I ran home, already late, to pick something up. Came outside to start my new 928 and...RRrrrrrrrr...battery dies. I get a neighbor to jump-start and end up being REALLY late. Talk about my wife being pissed off! It gets worse.

After having it out in our session, we go outside to get into our respective cars. She won't even look at it she's so angry. I get in and...you guessed it...the battery gave up the ghost. I had to quickly flag my wife down in the parking lot and ask her to jump start the 928. Pissed off? Woo!

Now I have my 951 and we're very happy together. She even tolerates me babbling about my car and about Porsches in general. I can't wait to get another 928 in addition to the 951. Hopefully she takes it better this time...

Not a wife story, but an exwife story.

It took getting Divorced to buy myself something I wanted since Painting them when I was 19 years old in Largo Florida. Here's to the Ex.. And to everyone on Rennlist.

My wife's a pretty good sport about the P-car and my seemingly endless ability to tell her everything I learn about it

She tells her friends that I'm having an affair with my car

But when we're out on the road, she enjoys the stares from other drivers more than I do

The worst my story gets is that my wife insisted I add a 996 to the stable, and that I completely put out of my mind forever the thought of parting with my 928.

So as a reward to my biggest fan, I bought a tip.

I have to admit, she looks better in it than I do.

BTW she is the second wife, I traded in the first.....severe warranty issues......

Buddy of mine says 'You just have to get through that first marriage'.

My first rev-limiter hated motorcycles but loved my 240Z's. Would never even allow thoughts of a 928.

My second rev-limiter woke me up early one Sat morning so we could go look at an 84 which is my current daily driver. This after she'd already bought me a 79 Kaw 1000 while 9 months pregnant. This one's a keeper.

Great idea for thread, also wondering about a OT, "Honey Do" thread and how we work it into our Porsche Do list.

Not really my story, I asked the PO why he was selling: he had become minus one girlfriend, having to "date" again, he decided he had to get rid of the cracked-windshield-pick up truck, bought the Pcar, met wife-to-be the next week. He didn't say if he was driving the car at the time, but sounds like karma to me. I don't think there was any real conflict betw gf and car, but when I bought the car, he had a new pick-up, she was driving a new Toyota Solara, I was driving the Pcar out the drive, 3 happy people, I guess he wasn't that committed to the mystique. Addendum: My wife likes the car, (had it 6 months) but is starting to ask questions like "How much is that going to cost?" Uh, oh.<g>

I fell outta my chair reading that! You call your wife a 'Rev Limiter'? That's a good one! Ha-ha-ha-ha...

Sorry, no picts of the 996/wife combo. You will just have to imagine......BTW, this is the same woman that "insisted" that I buy my 95th anniversary special Fatboy the previous year.

I had one of those "rev-limiters", I got rid of it and life has been a lot better....

OK Top this! My wife takes the MY 928 out more than I do! So when I complain, she tells me to go buy my own. Too bad I'm too broke, but which is more cheaper, new wife or new 928?

Hmmm,

Does the wife work now?? If not, send her to work and buy a newer one. Tell her you need more income to satisfy both of your desires.
