Couldn't resist. Gotta post, even though I ain't married... Maybe in a year or three, but not now...

When I met my girl, I didn't have a licence yet. Lost touch for a while. When I started to date her, I drove an F-150 XLT. Very nice pick up, if a bit rough. She loves F-150s, btw I didn't know that till I bought my 928...

When I first met her, our conversation was me basicly trying to explain a 4 cycle internal combustion motor to her. She liked me because I didn't talk down to her.

She still doesn't understand what is what. I told her my 928 should get better gas milage, partly because it has a smaller motor. She said back with a dealy serious face and tone, "Are you sure it's the motor that eats gas? I thought it was the transmittion."

Her car is intermentantly makeing noise like a fan belt is lose, or a bearing is going out. Also, it sounds a bit like the exaust manafold has a small hole in it, somewhere before the muffler. She just drives it. It drives me nuts, but what can you do? I'm not responsable for her car, yet...

She dislikes my 928. Biggest reason, it broke a t-belt comeing back from her house, and prevented me from seeing her for a little over a month. Next, it's "low to the ground". Finaly, there is the Porsche mistique, and the attendent "breaks alought, and is expensive to repair" stigma. Another strike aginst my car is it's "too fast". I did 40 in a 35, and she was all over me. Opps, I thought the speed limit was 50, it had just changed. And finaly, I've been something of a dead beat on getting her gifts, w/o knowing it. This is because I don't shop for gifts. I like CDs, she likes CDs, so for 2 years worth of birthdays/christmass/and the like she got CDs... And then I go and spend a bit of money on a car. Wrong thing to do. But she got over it. And I learned CDs are NOT perfect gifts. No longer and I a dead beat.

The only good part of the story is that my 928 is much more comfertable to drive in than my old F-150, and even though she's not a car person, she wants to learn, so one day we're rebuilding a 938 transmittion. Sooner or later.

Told the wife I was looking to buy another 928. She started to say she would support me on this, but decided that would be too much like saying I could bring yet another "Mistress" home.

In an effort to replace our wrecked car 12 years ago the wife's only requirement was "cool/buff" sound and pop up lights. When the guy started that 78 silver 5-speed it was a done deal.
Gator has evolved since then to a snarling beast with stiffer suspension louder pipes more HP and a passenger window that won't go down. I now have bought the girl a Explorer so I can drive the shark.
