Unless his bank acct mirrors Bill Gates' or he's a die hard Shark fan, Willhoit just didn't offer him enough $$$, cause everything has its price. Judging from number of sightings verifying he drives the car, and how James described the general condition of the car when he saw it in person, it doesn't sound like he babies it, least in keeping it clean. Especially if it was dirty while participating in a PCA function. So that seems to indicate he's not about keeping it for his love of it being a rare shark anyways. Maybe he just is familiar with it, likes it, and money is not a great motivator in his life.

Yeah well for it to be worth $120-$200k he'd better at least clean it up some I'd think. Although several have said its been seen/reported at whatever the BP garage is, my 1st thought of a car that someone can't even keep clean is you'd better have service receipts before I'm gonna be convinced you kept up with the more serious maintenance. Especially on a rare 928 GTS. If he has that kind of money, bring in a mobile detailer on a regular basis. How hard or expensive is that if you truly value the car for what it is.

Well, this is not another spotting post, and there will be no more spotting posts from me on this thread. The mystery around this car and its owner is over. Here’s the story…
A few months ago, one of our local owners who lives in the same neighborhood as the yellow GTS actually spotted it pulling into the owner’s house and he sent me the address. I pondered how to follow up, but I didn't post anything here, because I didn't want any pressure to do anything. I got busy, and did nothing for a while but on Monday of this week, I decided to quickly write him a letter and mail it to him. Today I got a warm and friendly email response from the owner, Joe.
I’m not going to post my letter, or his response, but here are the major points of his response:
- Joe is the original owner and bought the car through a broker when he heard that 1995 was going to be the last year for the 928.
- It’s his 3rd 928.
- It has about 55k miles on and he hasn’t had any issues other than a few oil leaks.
- He’s owned Ferraris, BMWs, Aston Martins, Mercedes, a TurboS 911, etc, and the GTS is still his overall favorite car.
- Joe will get back to me on my request for pictures.
- And now the best part, drum roll please….he spends a lot of time in Austin and may be able to swing by Marble Falls in Nov! (He’s checking his calendar)
It was a fun mystery, but I'm glad to finally make contact, and possibly have a new member of the 928 community.

Good Job Don! Look forward to one day seeing some photos of it, as I'm sure everyone is. With only 55k miles, even if it does need some cleaning, he'll have to fasten his seatbelt if the 928 Heavyweights ever get his contact info.

Wow, I go away for a couple years, and we are still talking about finding this car....without a doubt my favorite Porsche and color of all time! So glad it has finally been found and verified!
