anybody know who was westbound between Houston and San Antonio on I-10 today with a yellow GTS with yellow wheels and painted wing......?

Russell #2 was nice enough to point out it was a GTS, not an S4 as I had thought.....fat rear fenders-----

Yellow GTS, I know they exist because ive seen one on the PET before.

But they have got to be the rarest of the rare colorwise.

If i had to bet money i would say it was a GTS clone from an earlier car, thus the wild yellow paint job on a car that would have to have been repainted if those flares were added, but who knows, if its factory is damn RARE!

Most likely this is the car Chuck Z has in his registry, 1995 Speed Yellow GTS with original MSRP of over $100k. Shows as located in Texas(Houston & Katy), & yellow wheels, but not much more info. Would be great if someone ever could get a pic of it.

http://www.928registry.org/1995-928GTS-0066.htm

Speed yellow was only a standard offered color(12G) for 1994-95 on all Porsche models. Really rare as said & certainly if this one ever came available, the 928 Gurus & Titans far & wide would be in the frey after it!

Info from Chuck's site:

Special order one owner car with an MSRP over $100,000. Special options include, yellow piping, yellow painted wheels, wood package and beltline leather. Wood steering wheel and yellow piping had to be added after purchase because the factory missed it on the order. The car in the pictures above is almost identical except it is a 5-speed and a 1993 MY. IF YOU SEE IT FOR SALE PLEASE LET ME KNOW, I MIGHT BE INTERESTED

Speed yellow is rare no question about it but its not rares color on 928. Anone over seen one single mint or signal green factory original GTS? Just picture of one anywhere ever? Both were available in entire '92-95 GTS production. Very likely Porsche didn't even expect anyone to take them but color was available because 911 was painted at same production line and thus it made sense to have same color maps for both models.

Also note that Speed Yellow was a standard color for at least '94 models - to me its surprising so few exist.

Assume it probably didn't match with the luxury GT car mindset so much - perhaps a bit too "race me!..."

Paint Scratch shows it as an available color on all Porsche models for 1994 & 1995.
http://www.paintscratch.com/

Maybe at that time, most new 928 buyers thought it too Ferrari or Lambo looking on a 928 perhaps? Least here in the States, seem to hear of them more in Europe. I think it looks great on a 928 & would love to have a GTS in that color. Even the 993 model 911s look sharp in Speed Yellow & you do see those on occasion.

I imagine if this or any Speed Yellow GTS was available for sale here in the US, it'd bring a ton of attention and big $$$ too. Just hear too many say how they'd like to have one. Probably like the rare Pearl White one that brought in the low $60's when it sold, but even more so.

This may be the car, although there is a disclaimer on Chuck Z's picture site that the car pictured is not the actual car.......

I did confirm with Russell #2 that yes, it was a GTS, the same color as the one in Chuck's registry, with painted wing, and painted wheels.

Probably was the infamous car, as the registry shows it's basic location as Katy, Texas and Houston Texas, just east of where Russell and I saw it.

If Paint Scratch is correct in their info, those colors are inded rare, They show Mint Green(224) for 1992 & 1993 and Signal Green(22S) only for 1992.

The other greens they show for GTSs are: Advertura Green(39R & 39S) is listed for 1993-1995; Oak Green(22L) is shown just for 1993; Amazon Green(37Z & 39A) was in 1992 & 1993. Seems as time went on they offered less green colors in the GTS, with 1993 offering four greens.

Well Chuck's info not only shows it in Houston & Katy, but also says it has custom yellow wheels, which the one you saw did too. The pics he disclaims & shows as examples do not have the yellow wheels. So its the described shark, not the pics he shows. The described car has to be the one you were lucky enough to see. I know you Texas sharkers have cornered the market on 928s but you surely don't have TWO Speed Yellow 928s near to Houston with custom yellow wheels. If you do, I MOVIN!!!

Yep, it's probably the car, just wish I'd been going the came way so as to have a chat with the owner about it.....
