What is there to look at???? For $2500 you can NOT go wrong. Sell the brakes/suspension and you break even.

Now if it's a no sunroof car..buy it and chop off that roof to put on a more worthy candidate...pull the motor..and send it to be bored...save the 5sp for a spare..and sell the brakes and suspension. Put the poor 86point 5 out of it's misery..and make it's parts live on in a better S4 D:

Hey guys,

I spoke to the seller again, he is free Saturday from 12:30 - 1:30 (his lunch hour), and then again all day Sunday.

He said it wouild be ok for one of you guys to call him to arrange to meet him, or if you would like, I can call him and set it up.

Of course this is assuming anyone can make it over there this weekend.

Let me know, and if anyone wants, send me a PM and I can send my cell # if that helps communications.

Thanks! -Ed

It's got a sunroof.

Doesn't work.

But, yes, I'm hoping this works out.

Ok, got the report back from Rich and its not pretty. The thing is beat. The interior is a complete mess, wires every where, trashed dash and pod, missing door panel, and lots of other bad news.

The seller did say the interior needed work, so I guess one man's "needs work" is another man's "it's trashed". I wish I had gotten some pics of the interior before I sent Rich out on his mission, but the seller said he didn't have a computer.

Anyway, Rich thought it was a parts car candidate, and based on the pics he took and his description of what he saw and learned, I agree.

Or, if someone wanted to take on a track car project, it might be doable if you got the poor thing for free.

Rich did say the engine runs strong.

And Rich took a bunch of pics, I can post them if anyone is interested, but I wouldn't recommend the car unless you're a real glutton for punishment.

And thanks again Rich! What a great guy. Drove all the way out there, took a bunch of pics. Took a drive in the thing (I wouldn't have), and then wrote up a very detailed report for me and emailed that and the pics to me.

I owe you one Rich!

One mans "nice" is anothers "trashed"..... what is up with "nice" 86.5's lately...I looked at one with a blown TB & the owner was totally unrealistic about the price.... at least this one runs well.....

Ed, I'd be interested in seeing some pics.

If you don't want to post, you can email them to me.

Sounds like a decent $2500 86.5.

A quick Earl Scheib job, a trip down to Tijuana, and it'll look like new

If it's only the interrior is gone and he's asking $2500, than why isn't it worth it? It's ONLY $2500 for a well running 86.5!!!!!

It isn't worth it for "me" because:
1. It's too far away to make it worth the expense of going to get it, or having it shipped up to Seattle.
2. The neglect that is visible may only be the beginning of the issues with it.
3. I trust Rich's judgement as we seem to be on the same page regarding its potential.
4. It has an older tranny, the owner took the original tranny out, rebuilt an older one himself (have no details on the rebuild), and put that in the car (I believe the older tranny comes with the car).

It may be a great find for someone else, just not me.

I'll post the pics shortly, and I'll ask Rich if he minds if I post his comments that he sent me.
