928 Rotors on eBay

that generic picture would worry me. do they actually make a rotor for the 928?
is there a difference between a 88 and an 89 rotor or pad on a 928?
I would want to see a picture of the actual parts to see if the hats looked right.

$683 doesn't seem like that good of a deal to me for street pads.....928intl sells pads for around $100 for all 4....rotor are $458....so thats around $550 for a set...still cheaper than the ebay seller

I'm weary of this company and wouldn't buy from them for a number of reasons. They don't bother to mention whether the holes are cast in the rotor or if they're chamfered. They don't say who actually makes the rotor. I'm not inclined to believe they do because while casting rotors isn't as pricey as casting an engine, it's not a cheap process. After they're cast, they must be machined. Again this isn't an issue for a name brand company like Brembo, ATE, Zimmerman, etc because they make brakes and rotors all day every day and they're not some fly by night company on e-bay. You don't know who makes pads, or how well they work since not all are created equal.
And ultimately, I wouldn't buy them due to their price. They cost more then a set of Zimmerman rotors and mintex pads. Then there's the cost of shipping which I'm not sure if you noticed or not. To send them to the east coast, you're looking at about $75. You can keep your money in your own state and buy the Zimmerman's and pads from 928 Specialists and you'll save about $200.

Thanks for that advice. I'm a learning newbie and I'm still discovering what parts are out there. I will not buy these.
Anybody running Zimmerman rotors Mintex Pads right now (with stock calipers)?

I sell the standard rotors for $441.80 and the cross drilled (cast) for $554 the set.
Even if you do not buy from me at least support your sponsors. 982 Specialsts and 928 International are great suppliers and you will get exactly what you want without and ?

I switched the brakes on my '85 for a set of Brembos from a '87 and had to switch rotors as well. I went with Zimmerman drilled rotors and mintex pads. It's a decent combination albeit a bit dirtier then I care for.

Roger and everyone commenting here is correct. Stick with Zimmerman from one of our suppliers. I relpaced the rotors on my S4 and am using Hawk pads and love them.
You will find the folks here a little touchy when it comes to the ricer type add ons. (like NOS)

Just to point the seemingly innocuous word "cast" out.
Despite being called "drilled", what you want are discs with the holes cast into them at manufacture-time.
Rotors without holes that are then drilled are more prone to stress cracking around the hole areas.
Zimmerman are the OEM manufacturer for the 928.. so Zimmerman discs with the holes in them are the best bet for value.
Of course, whether the holes are needed with modern pad materials is debatable (holes used to be to allow gas to escape - now they seem to claim improved cooling through surface-area?).

I run zimmerman cast hole rotors with Mintex red box pads on my '94 GTS for street driving. Like them pretty well (the pads). Some dusting, but not a great deal of it. Comes off easily, but my wheels are treated with Rejex.
