i bought them both dinner at Sears. (not the store )

They both ran so fast it made no sense. Mark A. must have been sandbagging in '99 when he ran a 1:51.4 in world challenge trim. My bet was 1:47s and they both ran 1:43-4s . However, mark's best time in world challenge was still 1:35s at laguna. Even with the go-fast mods.

And anderson is only 1:45??? (usual 5 second diff)

Seriously, i have never seen the layout. what do my buddies in the POC R5 group run (although i think a few of those cars , being so light might have a big advantage at a real tight course. (or what do the C production guys run?)

Does anybody know if that black car has Tarek's old GTS engine? The seller claims it has 345hp at the crank.

Well that black track car is now at our shop and needs to find a good home. I will try to get some pictures as the ones on Ebay are now gone.

The numbers here in Europe are at least 3 x to 4 x more to built a competitive ENDURANCE racer...

1990 GT - $12500 (rebuild GT motor as a spare)
Cage - $3000
Leda Suspension - $3000
New GTS engine - $6000 (luck)
GTS headwork to accept 968 valves + porting, cost of 968 valves - $1000 (luck)
New GTS gearbox - $1500 (luck)
GTS brakes - $1000
Dry Sump - $2500 (own design)
928 Intl headers of eBay - $500 (luck)
Exhaust incl X-pipe - $1000
Seats - $1000
Harnesses - $500
Wheels - $1000 a set x 3 (2 dry + wet)
Tyres - $1000 a set
Lexan Windows - $1000
Fire Ext - $500
Kill Switch - $50
Wide Band Lambda Sensor - $200
Remap - $900

Grande Total: $40k+

That excludes labour + set-up costs + test time...

Forgot about this thread..updated the first post...here's a summary..

Kinesis K5's 17x10 and 17x 11 with 275s and 315's Hoosiers.. $1800ish.
SRD Sliders $220
Cobra Suzuka GT fixed back kevlar seat $250.
Sheet of lexan to make side windows and rear quarter windows and rear hatch window.. $134.00
hypercoil 750lb and 500 springs with some misc. perches used with stock sport bilsteins shocks...$250 (used old S4 bits to construct the suspension)

total now..as of Sept 08
$11,664
so..now need to sell the CS rims with 245 hoosiers and the Recaro SRDs..now with sliders...
Cost to be updated once those sell...

I'm not building mine to be competitive like you are. I think your costs are in line..or even a bit cheaper than some of the other "competitive" racers over here.... Don H comes to mind...his car cost a lot more than 40K...

What part of Porsche racing did you think was going to be inexpensive? The Porsche or the racing?

Cheeky!!!

It is expensive when compared to an E36 M3, which can be had fully built and ready for the VLN or 24hrs of the Nurburgring at say $30k. The car will post times to within +/-5 secs of the 928. The only problem of course is that you have no chance in the M3s respective class, whilst with the '28 in SP8 you might actually sneak in a podium...

P.S. Where did you see me complaining?

Sorry I was just making a point mostly for those who do not have personal experience.
