Video games. You can't imagine how complexe those can be. Of course for those playing them it looks easy... But you got to understand that everything is drawn on the screen in real time... Which mean for most game, 30 to 60 images per second, calculating all the AI, the collision, the visuel, the effects.

And the technology is evolving so fast that all the tools get outdated within a few years. I know no other industry that require everybody to be constantly in learning. And when I mean constantly, I mean it!

End of season update:
Dyno at RWHP 355 and 350 RWTQ
1/4 mile 13.4 at 108 MPH (its a 5 speed)

S/C belt slipping and BOV leaking, so never got over 5# boost. Also above data was taken at 100F intake-charge air.

This winter I'll relocate the idler pulley and add another heat exchanger.

Nice numbers!!! 355rwp with only 5 pounds of boost!! Excellent!!!!

Here I was called a liar for posting just over 400rwhp with over 12psi.

How and where are you measuring this? Do you still have my e-mail address? Let's talk about this offline.

Nice MPH but the time is at least half a sec on the slow side.
Just as a comparrison: I've pulled a 12.8sec @ 108mph, using a planetray Paxton (GSS Novi), no intercooler and only ~6psi of boost on a 5-speed '85. If you were able to get 109 at only 13.4sec, with a slipping belt, your car will be a monster.

Imre is your 928 auto or MTM. Track was slippery and hard to get traction, and I'm no John Force............
Lets not discuss what the car could/should/maybe do but what the real time numbers are. Next year she'll be little faster.

Erik, yes email sent...........

Mine's a 5-speed like yours, stock weight, stock tires. It takes a little learing before you figure out the optimal launching technique. But either way, you need to spin the tires to get a good launch. Too much and the'll roast, too little and it will bog down. To me stock size seem to work the best. I think it's a littel too late int he season to get good 1/4 mile times. The asphalt is way to cold to get any kind of grip and that's probalby what you've experienced.

Toofast, I notice that your sig #'s are higher than the dyno's posted in this thread. Can you give us an update about what you have changed since the last time this thread was updated?

Thanks.

Tony, I also want to commend you for "building what you got". We don't all own the optimal nor have or want to use the cash to either. Its fun bringing what you have to optimal potential.
I also posted in here to also know about your update as Fabio asks.
I definantly notice the heat exchanger and some different rerouting to probably pull colder air. Perhaps you also fixed your slipping belt? tightening your belt and cooler air for 50hp must have been satisfying!

Thanks guys for the support. Dynoed again in June 2009. HP remained at 350 (at the wheel)/TQ went up by 20 -- 370 (at the wheel).
This year changes include:
  • Polishing the inside of the Powerdyne snail.
  • Adding a second idler pulley so now the SC belt does not slip. Measured 6# boost now.
  • Replaced the Bosch blow off valve (was leaking boost) with Synapse http://synapseengineering.com/cart/p...Black-7-2.html
  • Moved the air filter to the fender, increased the intake tubing to 3.5”.
  • Added two additional heat-exchangers in the brake duct.
  • Added Bosch 044 fuel pump. A/F dialed into 11-12:1.
Also installed an oil-cooler. The external oil cooler was an improvement keeping the oil temps down, drop in the coolant temp, overall leads to preventing detonation.
This year I dynoed with and without the SC. The SC is adding 150 HP. Combined with the small valves of the USA heads I think I’m almost at the end for HP gains. The next step is converting to Megasquirt to get rid of the AFM. Should be good for another 40 HP.

Ya the AFM is a real hold up. The 951 gains 40 wheel with a MAF upgrade, so there is no reason you wouldn't.

Toofast, are you using stock injectors? I'm interested in your home-made fuel rail setup for an upcoming build. I'm debating on whether to source the rails from a vendor or build my own to spec. Do you have any additional pics of the rails/fuel system on the bench?

BTW, great work!

You mentioned in an earlier post that you had dyno'd both with and without the Kuhn snorkle setup and saw no loss there. Why did you change it?

Jleidel, Yes using the stock L-Jet injectors. BEGI does wonders for fuel pressure.

Fabio, The Kuhn snorkels drop the air filters in front of the radiator. I wanted the engine oil cooler mounted in that spot, plus go back to the 16" condenser fan. It was a trade off for the additional cooling vs. the look.
I do wish I could have kept it thou.

I was reading this post now, from the beginning, waiting to see a blown up engine pread in pieces. Never came. I get it now. Blown

Nice build by the way

Little OT:
Considering a set myself. How will a supercharger on a 10.4:1 Euro 16v 4.7 310hp engine work out?
