That's kinda cool...not sure how much it will help..but at worst..provides some sort of protection up there...
I had always thought someone would do this..but use the old engine shock mount points and tie it across..cool stuff...

I'm with you Tom,
I'm sure that for street driving there is no good reason to use this except one: I like the fact that there would be something out there to protect my oil pan and the bottom of the AC compressor. I don't know how much of an impact it would be able to take, but it's cheap insurance if it saves the pan or ac bracket (which I think is part of the lower block).
The front of my oil pan has several dings in it from the PO and I feel like I'm driving around with my chin sticking out waiting for a knockout punch.

It would be interesting to see a tension and compression strain bridge on that tube to provide some data on exactly how much strain there is.

Does the brace eliminate the flex, or only reduce it by tying the wings together while the other side starts to flex?
How is the fit under a belly pan?
Is it enough to only tie in to the front of the lower A arm? Does the rear of the A arm take more of the cornering force?
Is there any tire temp data before and after the brace to give some statistical support to the brace?

p.s. I'm sure that there is a 200% difference in force from a 225 street tire to a 275 R compound some of the race guys would run. I know my new 265 fronts have a lot more bite than stock sized fronts.

it look's like it will sit above where the belly pan would sit. In which case the install would look stock from under the car. But if its higher then the belly pan then it really wouldn't provide protection from much of anything. I cant really think of hitting the belly pan, its to close to the centerline of the front axle.

Interesting concept. Its great that Carl is developing all this stuff for 928s. I wonder if it would still allow for a pan spacer as some of the track guys are now using to deter oil frothing? Would love to see some handling & braking test data for this lower frame brace.

I was always under the impression that with a lot of caster dialed into the alignment (max like mine) that the camber actually increases during cornering. So with 2.5 degrees front camber there would have to be considerable flex in order to offset that for an overall loss. Still I like the idea. Carl thinks outside the box more than just about anyone I know.

seems to make sense conceptually, but without real world data it's really unclear if it would be of true value or just "cool"
