Default HD cam timing chains

If I remember correctly somebody sold a 'hi-performance' cam timing chain. Anybody know who? I did a quick search but only found OE or aftermarket replacements.
TIA, Hammer

I'm curious what would make a chain high performance. From my experience I would use only genuine Porsche. The oem chains arent as nice or as well made/built as the oe ones.

If you are making changes the stock chain cannot handle, the stock timing belt doesn't stand a chance.

Good point......anything that would break the cam chain would have snapped the TB a long time before.......

I'm not making changes. During my stroker build today I found rust on one of my new chains. As long as I was replacing it I thought I'd upgrade.

My OE Porsche chain looks like the supposed racing chain. Its the only one with a silver finish. The bilstein one is crap and the iwis supposed OE chain they have pictured is a black color like the bilstein from what i can tell.

The OE porsche chain also has the colored side links for marking the cams together. Something that was missing on the febi/bilstein chain.

I used the 968 racing chains. I still have the boxes, but they were not much more than stock chains
If you want me to take a picture of the box, I can do that, or at least give the part number.

here are the original chains vs the new 968 racing chains

Sold a lot of the racing versions. Made by IWIS - Prices just went up in January.
All the same part number.
Bilstein OEM = $12.95
IWIS OEM = $19.95
IWIS Racing = $29.95
Porsche Stock = $34.99

Roger,

Do you see much difference between the iwis racing and the porsche stock chain?

Ryan,
Not a lot to my untrained eye.

Rollers are thicker, links are harder steel for less stretch over time. I used to work in a shop that built Porsche race cars. We used to use them in 944/968s. We'd tear down the motors every season or after a failure & the chains would last forever with little or no noticeable stretch. At that time we bought them from Porsche Motorsports NA but I don't have an account there anymore.
I decided to buy mine from Roger. Good price, great service! Thanks Rog.

look at the pic i provided which shows the stock chain compared to the racing chain. that is the chain we are talking about, and the one i used. it looked much more beefy when i put it on. seems like all of the advantages, but no drawbacks, except for $10 more cost.
