I wouldn't worry too much about that car either....

Here's what autocheck says about this car......

03/01/2005 HOUSTON, TX Motor Vehicle Dept. REGISTRATION EVENT/RENEWAL Reported registered/titled prior to storm event in FEMA designated storm area. We recommend a professional vehicle inspection to confirm no storm damage.

Not saying this is necessarily the case, but just sayin'
any car that is/was remotely close to a major storm gets that notation on autocheck. I have been running a few lately and have seen that notation more than a few times. Probably overall a good precaution but also going to make some people unnecessarily suspicious?

Agreed that it's a good precaution. The car appears to be in generally good shape, looks like someone will steal it if it is a represented but someone mentioned it has been for sale for a long time. I wonder if it has been failing PPI's?

It's been on eBay a few times in the last couple months. I think they started out a bit optimistic on the price given what's apparently bad with this car.

HEy I have a question, do you think a car that was registered within 20 miles of New orleans and has that notation on an auto check is suspicious?

Is 10-20 miles within downtown New Orleans in a probably flood area? Houston is pretty far but i was looking at a car within close proximity to NO and i passed.

I'm not sure how they make the designation but another Houston car has the same notation.

Didn't someone else notice in a previous threar that the for this GTS AD on Ebay lists the motor to be a 5.0L motor and not a 5.4L.

Compression being a minor mechanical issue is a bit like stating TBF doesn't happen with 928's.

A bunch of cars in many parts of the southeast are going to have the notation that they were registered in a county where a Hurricane hit. It is just something to keep in mind. We are 15 miles from the Gulf coast of MS, and 128' above sea level. Nothing in our garage went under water when Katrina hit, but everything we own that's registered here is going to have this warning on the CARFAX & AUTOCHECK.

I am coming late to this discussion and am confused.

The seller makes a big deal about full disclosure and honest represention and then has no specifics on electrical, compression and paint problems on a 928. The seller just hit on the three most expensive items on a 928. What is a compression problem? Unless you list the numbers there is no knowing what this means. Eletrical issues - well that could takes months to sort out. and then Paint work - just looking at the pictures both sides of the car wave like a stormy ocean. The seller sounds a lot like Robert Ringer's second personality.

I was interested and then the bidding gets to $16K. That is a lot more than this car looks to be worth on the surface. Has anyone actually looked at the car?

Minor compression problem. That's kinda like when saying 'he passed away recently after a brief illness due to a medical condition related to a missing head'.
