So in my never ending quest for a 928 I was looking at this one...

I emailed the seller asking what was wrong with it as the description didn't explain anything but said "There is cosmetic paintwork on this vehicle and some minor mechanical problems". This is what he wrote back "Paint work, electrical leak, and engine compression."
Now, I am an IT not a Porsche tech so I don't know how big a deal this is. I am looking for a fourth car not a project. should I just leave this one alone or keep digging for info. As far as I can see he didn't give me much to go on but like I said, I don't really know cars. thanks

Well 'compression' is a big red flag - you'd want more information on that for sure (test results) and then a PPI if it still sounds like it might be interesting... Seems this car will needs some expensive head work...

Electrical is probably not a huge deal but get more details (battery goes dead after how long? etc) Paint - you'd want to get close up pictures of the worst few areas to see if it might be acceptable...

Overall I'd say it sounds like a problem car

I have a problem with sellers who cannot/will not be any more forthcoming then this sellers description of the car. If you're going list these as issues then they should be explained in GREAT detail so the average person can understand the seriousness of a engine compression problem. BTW, what the hell is an electrical leak? Is there electrical dripping on the floor from somewhere?

Well if you translate electrical leak to current leak - it presumably just means parasitic current is high - quite likely very high for them to make a point of it

(as in battery goes dead overnight or in a few days if left connected...).

Agree it sounds odd to talk about compression and then not elaborate at all... One can only conclude the worst without additional info...?

It mentions the title issue is related to accurate mileage - not that the displayed mileage is low (but maybe its really 200K?)

This thing looks exactly like that gts out of houston that was in a prety good accident. If so it's been for sale for about five years. Look at the hood alignment and the shock tower brace over the engine.

Title is noted as NAM (not actual mileage) because it appears as though someone transposed a number back when the car had ~23.5k miles. Happpens quite often and I wouldn't be to concerned about it if records can back up mileage. There is also a 90 GT on eBay right now with the same issue. I wouldn't worry too much about that car either....
