The window trim was all black it fades to purple then almost silver over time . The 78 door locks were chrome plated...and that was it !

Nope, mine were never anodized as there is no trace of it in the nooks and crannies. Actually they are brushed aluminum.

The other chrome bits are the key surrounds on the doors of the early 78's.

Two pumps were put on the early 928's that were destined for hot climates to keep them from vapor locking.

Pretty sure the trim was always black anodized or not (mine are black on my 78), at least when it came from the factory.....

This has been discussed several times before IIRR. Since froggy is late '78 MY its more like production model than earlier '78's. Some of these early cars have parts where its very hard to believe they ever were black. Its true that black parts loose their color but usually its possible to see something pointing out parts were originally black in normally hidden portions of the parts. Pieces in some early cars do not show any signs of this what so ever.

Chuck,

They are black on my euro and my 80 924 (RIP). The 924 had over 300K miles and the anodizing was off the surface but still on the rounded edge. The area where the anodizing wore off was smooth (not brushed) and shiney. My 928 5 speed actually has brushed aluminum and there is no trace of previous anodizing. It is possible that it has been refinished. I do have invoices where 928 Intl sold/installed $5000 worth of misc parts on it in 1991. I wonder if the brushed silver trim was just used on the early silber metallic cars.

I would say if not in '78 MY then at least soon after. Some time much later (+) post plug was changed from black push on version to blue screw on version.

I have seen non black version on several different early '78 MY cars. None of the cars were silver.

The project 928 book shows various prototypes even full sized clay models...all show black window trim... but most anything is possible.

Was not used on the '85-'86.5 32 valve engines, started in '87...

'85-'86.5 used an elbow that was bolted to the head and incorporated the temp activated vacuum switch to the diverter valve.

Late '86.5. My 1195 does not have the indents. My 1955 does.

The first generation 928 prototypes utilized a 4-barrel carbuerator that powered the 5.0L 300HP Engine with an electric fuel pump. The technology in Bosch K-Jetronic injection deemed carbueration obsolete and Porsche scrapped the idea of usinga carbuerator.
Early euro, and US 16V heads have a blind casting for a carb'ed manifold exhaust crossover (red line).
