What is the single biggest weight savings that can be made to a 928?
Seats. This is true only of 928's with electric seats.

Vapour lock -- in-tank pumps remain cooled by fuel
For this same reason some early cars had two external fuel pumps, both full size.

1987, between VIN 1385 and VIN 1401. This is likely also where the oil squirter block disappeared
If wing was changed at same time in ROW models it means 2500+ '87 S4 were made with folding wing.

Its possible squirter block delete was little before wing change. Early S4 intake and aluminum oil filler neck is fairly sure way to expect block to have squirters too.

None
I would not bet on this. I have seen these in local 944 Turbo. They were very likely special order from Exclusive department. Its possible someone ordered 928 seats too.

I have seen two live and several others in pics.

When did the rear hatch change to accept the S4 wing?

’86.5….The rear hatch had the indentations at the bottom to accept the S4 wing yet still had the S wing installed.

Uh oh, Nicole's gonna school you if she hasn't already!! Porsche actually built a turbo charged 928 for Ferry Porsche in the early 80's, not to mention the factory has never S/C'd any Porsche, at least that I know of!

Oh.. and the question: Is this thread a repost?

Yes!

It was twin turbo S4 prototype done in '87-88 for development purposes, not for Ferry Porsche. Engine was modified version of 750hp boat engine build for offshore power boat racing. Jacky Ickx participated to one race in Europe with that engine after his retirement from Porsche factory group C drive. Sponsors pulled out of the project after that.

Later Kremer brothers would have liked to use this engine in 962 group C racer to compete against Sauber Mercedes C9 but factory didn't believe Kremer's could get sporsor package together and idea died. Kremer's thought that they could get few more competitive years out of 956/962 design with engine change.

When they switched to the three point seatbelt in the 1988 S4

When did CASIS end in the 928... (computer aided shift indicator system??).

I believe it was done away with when the 85/86 928 S was introduced

When was it introduced?...that I don't know but hazard a guess in 83 with the US model 928S.

When did Porsche add the exhaust temp sensors to the 928?

In 1989

What exhaust ports did they monitor?

4 and 8

When and why did they switch to different ports?

They switched to ports 3 and 7 in 1990 due to temperature variations of 4 and 8 falsely activating the system (3 and 7 were thought to fluctuate less in temp).
