Here's a good one for you guys. What fuel system did the original prototype 928s run, but was disgarded for CIS in the production version?
The first generation 928 prototypes utilized a 4-barrel carbuerator that powered the 5.0L 300HP Engine with an electric fuel pump. The technology in Bosch K-Jetronic injection deemed carbueration obsolete and Porsche scrapped the idea of usinga carbuerator.
Because of the Arab Oil Embargo and its heavy impact on the world's economics, Ernst Fuhrmann and his design team had agreed to detune the original 928 prototype for production by decreasing the bore to make the final displacement of the engine 4.5L and 220 HP for it's release to the public in 1977. They felt that this would increase the reliability and fuel economy for the 928 as the general public was not looking for something that guzzled gas at the time like its American counterparts with V8s.
Damn I'm good!

At which point did the rear flip-up wing disappear from the 928?
1987, between VIN 1385 and VIN 1401. This is likely also where the oil squirter block disappeared
