Ron,

With your help, I was able to get the data! I just f'ed the court date and got stuck with the ticket! I also researched with a MC cop on there are federal certifications and not the college/university/commercial companies which are required. I need to thrash the data and the science.

Also there appears to be a new circular polarization scheme which the V1 and nothing else picks up. I wish I had access to my optics lab back at university, I know I can come up with a depolarization filter to give the V1 a fighting chance.

Ron... aren't the preceedings of the court case a matter of public record? So, why not spill the beans?

i know I am gonna get flammed hard for this, but I find it ammusing that people get pissed off for getting a speeding ticket, when theyknew good and damn well they were speeding in the first place. I am all for trying to beat a ticket as much as anyone else, but I have found the easiest way to not get one is not to speed. Dont tase me bro, DONT TASE ME!

Ron, I've had a laser citation, and my record is clean for over 8 years. I've been measured with laser over 10 times also, most recent one was this year, from behind. No ticket.

Last year, I was stopped by one of Houston's truck cops. Here are the facts:

1. I was bobtailing in my Peterbilt (no trailer).
2. the cop was parked in the median, with his driver's door open.
3. at no time was he visible (out of his pick-up truck).
4. he took 6 miles to chase me down and stop me (I was going 60 mph the entire time--I have both analog and digital speedo's in my Peterbilt--posted speed at that location is 60 mph).
5. he claimed he "clocked" me at 66 mph.
6. when questioned about "how" he "clocked" me, he responded, "with a laser gun".
7. I asked to see the speed readout on the gun. He declined, saying he wasn't required to do so, then went on to say he wasn't holding court on the side of the highway.
8. I replied, "See you in court, bring your laser gun."
9. court date was held, officer didn't show up, case dismissed. I made a complaint to the judge (respectfully), to the effect that the officer should have been there, and that he willfully fabricated the charges against me. (See # 10)
10. Houston truck cops don't have laser guns in their units.

Lesson learned:

As I always have, fight every ticket/citation you get, no matter what it costs.

I called and emailed Ron last night with the good news. He has been a world of help in this situation. Every time it happens, I should get better - I assume the looters of this world will get better too.

I got stopped with laser in San Diego, and beat the ticket not on the grounds of right or wrong, since these people don't care about that - all they care is about revenue collection. So if they don't follow their own rules in this looter mentality, then why should I not stand up and use the rules and regs they base their accusations on?

Thanks again Ron.

I've never heard you can't beat a laser ticket.

For any of my tickets, I just refer them to my lawyer. She's 4 and 0 for me over the years.

The amount I pay her is roughly what the fine would be, plus my insur rate increases, minus avoiding tickets as the officers see my "perfectly clean" driving record.

I was just stopped in my town for "speeding" (31 mph in a 25 or something like that). The officer let me go with a warning after mentioning my clean driving record.

Tickets are a well know additional tax/revenue stream.

They have NOTHING to do with enhancing public safety.

On those grounds alone, I will fight every single ticket I get - I'd rather my lawyer get the money then the money grubbing gov't agencies.

And "don't speed in the first place" - whatever.

And as for how does she beat the tickets for me?

She told me that she basically shows up, and the tickets are dismissed. The judges know her well enough that she says its not worth it to them to spend the time on her.

They have too many other suckers lined up in court who don't have lawyers that they are waiting to pound and extract money from.

Pretty simple and makes sense. And her record is pretty good for me so far.

Exactly------it's about revenue collection, not safety.

Don't believe it?

Estelline, Texas, population168. In between Ft. Worth and Amarillo on US HWY 287, known coast to coast as a speed trap.

2 cops, each working 6 day shifts. Cop pay---near $50K per year. One new Dodge Charger pursuit and a 2 year old Mustang.

Most of their city revenue is from traffic citations (speeding tickets mostly).

Texas passed a law stating that 50% of traffic citation revenue had to be given to the state to cut down on local speed traps.

Estelline cops just wrote more tickets.......

That is unless the cop lies, the judge ignores the law, and the DOT is too lazy to change signs.

LOL Andrew. I expect brendan's info won't help the rest of us. We already know the ticket was quashed on a technicality.
