Default Used DEVEK/Autopower roll bar for sale

A friend fellow POC guy recently sold his 928 and the new buyer was not interested in the rollbar. He asked that we find a new home for his roolbar. It is the style which mounts to the rear shock towers and to the floor. So the only holes are in the floor. $400 cash and carry . The rollbar is here at our warehouse for pickup. I really do NOT WANT to ship this...

The rear down tubes bolt to the main hoop. The main hoop just barely will slide in through the door. The top of the hoop will touch the headliner when installed so it is a tight fit which is what you want ! This has the crossbar for the shoulder harness mounting which is the main reason to have the rollbar in my opinion. And yes this is the same style I have in the old very brown 1980....otherwise it would NOT be for sale

Jim:

I might be able to save you the trouble....is it like this one? If so ....very nicely made and a VERY tight fit. Especially since I want to leave the interior pieces in place.

Regards,

Ken

Very similar EXCEPT the down tubes in the rear go to the shock tower mounting bolts instead of to the inner fender wells. Which means no holes in the 1/4 panels and a much stronger mount to the bones of the car. The shock spring mounts was designed to hold the weight of the car !

Jim:

That would be much better....Maybe I can have some new down tubes fabricated. My rear shocks are adjustable from the top...how is your tube configured as it meets the tower?

Here are pictures of one rear leg lower section with its collar and shock mount. It's a 30 minute job to get this rollbar in or out after the first time you when you position it and drill the front mount plate holes. With the rear lower legs off, the hoop just barely fits sideways through the hatch opening and can be moved forward over the front seats when held up at the widest point of the interior, then turned 90 degrees and dropped down into place after the hoop just barely clears the windshield. I tape old socks on the leg tips to prevent scratching/tearing the interior during this process. It takes 2 people to maneuver it safely, although I somehow did it alone a couple of times.

Note that the shock mount is open for access to the adjuster on externally adjustable Konis.

Bill:

Thanks for the photo....I think that I am going to improve mine. I have a set of the old Devek harness bar bases that I can use as the foundation for the tube.

Best regards,

Ken

Looks like Tampa928s beat me to the punch, but if you WILL ship it, and he doesn't take it consider it sold and ship to TX.

I really do not want to ship it ... it is UPS oversized we have to build a box and to Fl. will cost nearly $200 ... I have to believe that someone local would like to pick it up !
