So how does knowing the individual 8 mixtures and or CHTs, or EGTs allow for better tuning , unless you have control of the 8 individual fuel injectors, or spark timing on individual cylinders?

He is running Autronic in place of LH / EZK.
This setup gives you complete spark and fuel control of each cylinder individually.

Tim Murphy is an Autronic dealer.

After seeing what this system can do, more of you track guys should look into it.

He does. He has individual control of each cylinder, both in fuel and I believe (in the future) spark. He found that the short runners were rich or lean on lower, then the opposite at higher revs, and the opposite of the longer runners. So he trims the fuel on each cylinder to match the characteristics of that system. Like 8 little 1 cylinder engines.

This is a conservative tune remember. He does this with his autronic, as I will be doing with my VEMS.

What is the cost of the autronic for mere mortals and what does it come with?

As of right now - price is subject to change - $2,400.00

This comes with a harness and various sensors.

There are some updates on the way, cannot be specific right now, so that may change things.

Does that include tuning?

I think that system has an "auto tune" feature that will get you pretty close.

Well, that is a matter of opinion

I guess you would have to define "pretty close" since Todd is not one to spend time on the dyno fine tuning if it's not necessary. The auto tune is a great feature for getting the car up and running, after that.......I would have to disagree.

The auto tune on Autronic is amazing since a major issue most struggle with when installing a 3rd party system is simply starting the car and driving it (hell, just starting the car can be a challange).
After that the skill of the person behind the laptop is what seperates the weekend warrior from those who really know what they are doing.

So yes, this is an excellent system that you can install, fire up and allow the system to self tune the car. Except if you are going to shell out this kind of money for an engine management system, stopping there would be kind of a waste.

I spoke at length with Todd at RA, looking at his log for tuning spark and fuel for each individual cylinder. He was encouraging me to get an Autotronic; that's why I asked about tuning with

Sounds very high tech! very cool

so, when it is tuned , how does it compensate for temp or altitude? Does it use the existing MAF system. excuse my ignorance on the system.
