Curb weight on a 2007 Mustang is about 3500lbs. I think you looked at GVW.

Everything else is true... solid axle Mustangs handle like pigs, all have the same boring exhaust note (although better than Chevy engines), but they are usually quick in a straight line. Although in the hands of a good driver, they are a fun ride around a road course.

GT = 3500lbs
Shelby GT500 = just over 4,000lbs

Curb weight of the new BMW M3 Coupe = 3,650lbs per Road and Track.

Cars are getting too damn heavy.

I read a comparison test / multi-car shootout in a car mag a few months ago (forget which mag, probably CAr & Driver or Motor Trend), they compared cars times around an American track in the same manner that cars times are tested around the 'Ring in Germany, to best show the overall capabilities, instead of just narrow categories such as 0-60. i like the idea. Anyway, the new Mustang GT500 was one of the slowest in the test, despite being one of the most powerful cars there. They said it was a pig.

Sounds like the new GT 500 not only looks a lot like 1967 ..... it handles that way as well Ford went back to the solid rear axle because their drag racing customers were said to prefer it !

There are actually Mustang road racers who pull the IRS to install solid rear axles.

That might be because the big supplier of suspension mods for Mustangs doesn't feel like developing the IRS because they're making a killing selling their solid axle stuff which they arlready developed. They said so in words not too different from that and the whole Mustang community is happy to point in the same direction as the rest of the herd, baaahhh.

A properly setup solid rear axle with at WATTS link has been proven superior to the stock Ford IRS they installed on the Mustang Cobra.

BMW's rolling out a supposed "X6" crossover-between-SUV-and-sports-car.

Good news: turbo 4.4L v8 with huge torque.

Bad news: Hideously ugly, 4950 pounds.

repeat: 4950 pounds - not a typo.

Cayenne is only 10 inches longer and 3 inches wider than a 928...

It does stand about a foot taller, but for something that's honestly about 15% bigger per the measuring tape, it weighs a staggering 50% more.

Lets go a different direction. My replica Cobra is 16 inches shorter than a 928 and is about 1,300lbs lighter.

10 inches is a lot in the car world.

Quick Reply: and they say the 928 is big and fat
