Default Build a Lambda and MAF LED meter

Hi,
Just finished my Lambda and MAF meter project. Here's a link to a word document with all the details for those of you who want to build one yourself. (no I'm not offering any... just sharing the design)
http://jenniskens.livedsl.nl/Technic...AF%20meter.doc

Works like a charm. The design is partly taken from an idea I found on the internet public domain. It can be made for maybe 25 dollars and some hours of work.

Regards, and Merry Christmas,
Theo

Thanks,
May try this after the other projects are done.

Happy Holidays,
Glenn

Neat!

Where do you connect inside the LH? It's not mentioned in the doc?

AFAIK, there are five free pins (10,11,15,26,32) in the LH2.3 connector you could wire to, and install terminals in the harness connector for, for a drill-free install.

This could be done with LH2.2, too. It would be cool to have a EZ-F MAP sensor graph, too...

I don't know about the earlier LH, but I guess the same would apply. Opening the LH connector and adding a few more wires will turn out to be difficult, but not impossible. I choose for the 0.5mm hole and a small cable connecting a DB9 connector.

Hey Theo
Neat, how about getting a list of victims, uhhm, customers and getting some PCBs made? I'll buy one!

Great! A poor man's SharkTuner.

All you need is a video camera to log the LED status along side the tach. Then you could remap the LH's A/F map table. Fun.

Excellent.
With this information I can check the lambda and MAF functionality, just by measuring the voltage while driving.

I see. I misunderstood about opening the LH, and missed the table of the ECU pins.

FYI: pin 24 is listed twice, the second should be pin 29, switched 12V. The table DB9 pins don't match the circuit diagram J1 numbers, and the table remark for the MAF input says "Not used yet".

LH2.2 pinout
07 - MAF pin 5
11 - O2 sensor shield
18 - switched 12V
20 - 02 sensor voltage
25 - ground

Porken,
thanks for the comment. I need to do a few document updates. Will do that right away. The DB9 is a connector that is a few inches away from the LH. Female/male to connect the cable. The J1 is actually inside my display box. I will change the schematic a bit to make it clear. Switched 12v is pin 35 in the LH2.3, (not 29). Maybe I can add the LH2.2 to make it complete.

I wouldn't bother with this on a car with a lambda loop. The thing just jumps all over the place as the computer constantly corrects. It's horribly inaccurate if you wire the LM3915s as the original Pelican article describes. I wired mine differently which increased accuracy drastically. I think I posted the differences before. Even after the improvements I just dumped it in a box after testing. When I get around to it, I'll install an Innovate LC1 or something similar. This really isn't worth the time and money to build. I'm glad I built mine for free.
