Default Quarter window trim install

Evening all.
I have succesfully reinstalled my rear quarter windows in my S2 but now need to fit the aluminium trims. Any suggestions as I am struggling to get to grips with it.
Cheers
Mike

i've been told to put the trim in first. My trim has been "uninstalled" for 5 years.

I agree. I put them on first.

You don't have to. Get a can of WD40 spray is in the rubber molding groove. You can just be sloppy about it as you will was the excess off later. Start with the upper piece and work from the rear. Push the leading end and several inches worth of the trim into the rubber moulding. Hold the rear portion of the trim with a towel or rag. use the other hand to keep the trim pressed down and guide the trim forward into the molding. Use more WD40 if you have to. Just don't push too hard to bend the trim by accident. Take your time as there is no rush. You will see this is rather easy to do. When finished with the top, move to the bottom curved piece in the opposite direction. wrap the towel around the curved part and start at the curved rubber molding section and push towards the back of the car. When you have that section in, start wiggling the trim back and forth while pressing down into the groove.from the point of the straight section that is already seated. You will see that the trim will seat itself as you do this and work up towards the upper front to the corner. When done, fit on your two corner pieces and wash it all down.

I have done this several times and works EVERY time. Just go slow and make sure you have a good grip with the towel.

Good luck!

I put a huge scratch in my new paint doing it this way. Its way easier to pop the windows back out and install trim first.
