Default 928 gets 5 seconds on Speed TV's Redline show

Remember we did the Superstreet Magazine SuperLap event?
They just did a review of the event, and during one of the clips , they showed he Holber car running on the track. It was only a short clip, but considering it was not of the flavor of the majority of the tuner cars , im surprised it made the show!
I tivo'd it.

The winner was a famous driver from Japan, who runs JGT. The 600hp + Evo broke the record almost broken last year by one of the top SpeedGT GT3 porsches at near 1:49 . This amazing Evo broke it by over 4 seconds!!! Can you imagine a car that could run around Mark Anderson as fast as he runs around me??
This car was as cool as it was fast. It doesnt get any better than this!

Very nice Mark. Always cool to see the flag ship for 928's get air time! Yea the Evo is a demon but the 928 is my "flavor" of racing. Congrats.

Is it me, or is the driving position in that EVO about 2 feet rearward of normal? I see a steering wheel where the driver should be and a driver sitting back cholo-style with his head behind the B-pillar... Perhaps it helps with the f/r weight balance?

Its probably a $500,000 or more Evo. Its basically like the caddy in World Challenge GT. the doors look like real doors, but they feel like paper when you open them. basically, like the japanese JGT car. the body is entirely CF.
the motor has been rumored to have over 650hp.

yes, the guy is sitting in the back seat!! (and real low) part of the weight and balance. keep in mind, buttonwillow is a very tight track, so handling is key. that said, this car would keep up, or maybe even beat an ALMS GT3RS Porsche!

the eposode was about the LA auto show anouncing the new Evo, and the event at buttonwillow. no real tivo eposode name. it was last night. it might be running this week a few more times.

you noticed!! yes! that was the BEST part of the day. nothing like the 928 with open exhaust!!!!

Did i post the video link of a lap at this event??? Its boring because its not a race, but cool because the camera was mounted at the air dam and sound was dubbed in from the 8mm camera inside. got to love the rev limiter on the main straight! 6600rpm!! no problems! however, i was doing the sweeper at near redline earlier in the day, but started short shifing it a bit, just in case...... you know! (high g, high rpm,....)

CRAP I watched two episodes of redline and quit, it was probably the next one.

Good thing about speed is that they'll play that same show about 500 times so that you'll really get some air time. I'll have to watch out for the show.

They use the same one every year for this Superstreet Time Attack (now called superlap) event. Its config 13 clockwise (sometimes called the bus stop and the sweeper)

the only longer config, is when they run this with the star mazda turn (longer )

I raced there with POC with this same configuration with my old part euro 5 liter (its first race) and ran 1:58 but, no bus stop which i like a heck of a lot better for greater speed! In one of the holbert car's first races with PRC/NASA, it ran this same track config to a 2:03. so, i was pretty happy to break the 2 min barrier here. Within about 10seconds of a top 3 speedGT World challenge car here was the goal, because this track config. is really about handling!

yes, good for only about 5hp on my car, but mainly makes the peak HP carry out further passed 6500rpm.

Thanks!

The video was pretty cool with it being right down on the air dam. Ill have to find a way to do some suspension video and see what really is going on in there!
